I got the game installed..
spent about 45 minutes making my toon.. this is IMO the best part of the game... which is both good and bad..
went through the tutorial.
and did the first few newb missions.
here are my thoughts so far...
- can I not run this game at a higher resolution than 1024 x 768? I tried and it keeps reverting back to that, no matter what I put.
- controls feel kind of clunky and slow to respond.. is it just something you have to get used to?
- scenery looks cool, but seems like there is alot of the "same" looking scenery. Does it get better the higher you get?
- my costume looks awesome
- are all the missions literally the same thing basically? The ones I did were almost identical to each other in what you had to do, and what your surroundings looked like.
- is the world big compared to other mmos? it seems like it would be rather small.

That's an odd bug. I'd suggest going to the tech issues and bugs section of the official forums. Folks should be able to help I'd imagine.
It's not something I notice any more than most other MMOs I've ever played. There's usually a bit of a hitch between selecting an attack and it's execution. So I guess it's just something one gets used to really.
Honestly it's mostly like any other MMO. There's killing things, taking something to an NPC somewhere, protecting or destroying objects, escorting/rescuing people, and clicking on objects. Usually one or two of those in combination. CoH's big issue with that is there's a fairly limited number of maps for the huge amount of instanced content that it has, so it can begin to feel like it's repetitive. I'd suggest really trying to follow the story that's generally being told in the story arcs that start up at around 5-6 or so. Also there starts to be more interesting missions at around 20 or so.
Oh, and check out the Architect Entertainment building for some of the better player created stuff. I'd honestly search for the four-star missions in general, or the five-star ones with a good number of votes.
There are some really nifty looking places the higher up you get, but mostly it's in the added content really. Croatoa, Striga, Faultline, and the Shadow Shard all generally look awesome (though the shard is a pain to get around). Overall I really think that the City of Villains content looks far superior to the CoH content.
It certainly doesn't feel like it, largely because of the sheer ease of getting around when compared to other games out there. The travel powers and many train stations make getting from one spot to the next largely trivial. That said, I think the CoH zones do total up to a fairly sizeable chunk of real estate, it just never really feels like it.
Edit: Oh one last thought. If you do happen to try out the Architect missions, please, take care, some of them are designed to be absurdly hard, plus there was a patch today that made quite a few of the custom enemy groups that people had created significantly more difficult. Just didn't want you to go try it out, pick a tough mission accidentally and get upset or anything.
