    Good, serious point.

I'd even go so far as to wager, Spector wasn't the only Republican we'll see bolting from the conservatives before this is all done. They just don't allow any room for moderates like Christine Whitman when see was in the party and others, so they end up going to the wayside. Bloomberg is another who just couldn't stomach all the regilious conservatism and "I'm better than you" value finger pointing which later turns into embarrassment.

I like a lot of Ron Paul's ideas, but not all of them of course. But I'd have to definitely pick him over Palin, McCain and a few others.

Bush was a terrible spender  and Obama took his policies and put them on steroids to make the mess much worse. So yes, I would say Obama is terrible for this time period in our economy. He doesn;t think things through. He doesn;t have the patience it will take to get us through the economic problems before piling on more spending.

I am starting to wonder if he believes all this 2012 crap, and that is why he isn;t planning anything to make things better in the future ...So when 2012 comes and goes our debt is going to be so far into the hole our dollar will be worthless.

If you mean spending, every economist worth his salt claims Obama HAD to spend what he did. Some of the better economists claim he didn't spend nearly enough, but so far, their are indications things are turning around. I think you said you don't pay attention to the mainstream news before Brian, but the signs have been very good that the Bush Ship of Financial Disaster is slowly turning. The Republicans are trying to keep people from seeing that with the character issues (Obama's thuggery) and other personal attacks. Our international standing already went up tenfold since W left.

It's patently unfair to say he's carrying on where Bush left off when first, its only been 100 days. Obama has a total of 1,460 days approximately to be President. he's been in office for 100 odd days. That is a total time of less than 8% in office! Do you know of any job where someone can get hired, go in and in less than 8% of their projected time there, turn a mess that is no where NEAR as fubared as Bush left around? Two wars, healthcare non existent, banks failed, stocks plunged, housing down, jobs gone, no hope in the country. All fixed in 8%... even the people who Republicans claim think he's God don't believe that's possible, but Republicans seem to think it should have been fixed yesterday, lol.

Second, there are positive signs within the economy that even Wall Street claims today. Housing recently announced some gains, where they hadn't for almost a year or more. Warren Buffett who certainly isn't a tax/spend liberal even acknowledged much optimism about the direction recently. California, Nevada and Arizona home prices are starting to perk up again.

The funny thing is that now the Republicans are saying that it's Obama's mess. But I guarantee you, in two years when things have straightened out more than Bush left it, they will be claiming it's because of Bush's plans BEFORE he left office, while right now it's Obama and the Socialist's fault and mess.

The average "tax cut" Obama is bringing is $400. But then again, he is pushing cap and trade which will increase the average household energy bill by $3,000. So, the "average American tax cut" is -$2,400 (was looking at the above number)  -$2,600 to start.

Bush started this mess, and Obama instead of cleaning it up, is making a much bigger mess. I was not even referring to the bailout moneys, which were epent in the WRONG places to fix the problem, I am referring to his budget, we do NOT have money to send to other countries, we do NOT have money for the new programs, we must scale back, WAYY back in order to correct our debt FIRST. Then we can consider exapnding after the debt has been corrected . Not until then can we add any more spending, or it will further increase the cost of living. The Tax breaks applied to the lower middle class will not offset the increase the cost of living, thus creating even further hardship on those people. The cost of diapers, transportation, electric and water bills will all increase dramatically due to the loss in the value of the dollar. If we do not reduce our national debt immediately the US will enter an extreme state of poverty very quickly. This is my concern, not who made the mess, but how it is currently going to be cleaned up.

Help get an African American male elected President of the United States.

After eight years of Bush, America finally stood up and said, "What the HELL were we doing with this clown, and people like him?" America wanted a complete and total change, and Obama was that change. Hell, only 21% of people today even claim they are Republicans anymore, because of Bush and the right wing crowd. Either they all defected, or they are hiding among the "Independants" now, lol. All of a sudden, there's been this HUGE swing of "Independants, Constitutionalists, Patriots, and Libertarians."

I put it in quotations, because you know that if the Republicans were somehow able to pull themselves off the floor (which they won't), those people will come running back. Check their affiliations and you'll find probably most were Republicans under two years ago. But now that's no longer "cool". Now it's cool to be a teabagger, talk about revolutions and recite John Henry or Ethan Allen on streetcorners and the interwebz. "Don't tread on me" flags... lmao! Those are as silly as the Che Guevara tees the leftists wear. They really have no idea how stupid those flags are on their bumper sticker.

Bush and friends screwed that up so bad, it was going to be either a woman (Hillary Clinton) or an African American (Barack Obama). It helped that Barack Obama was fully qualified, highly intelligent and a charasmatic leader, but Bush made the ticket possible to a wide variety of Americans. Even though 20% claimed they would never vote for him because he was Black, plenty of people realized that whoever got picked was going to be a superior upgrade. Now the right wing has Rush for a leader, Sarah riding shotgun, and only know how to make things worse for themselves daily; all because they let Bush and friends drive drunk.

Bush my friend, was a once in a lifetime gift that just keeps on giving.

In just 100 days, Obama is already worse.

And you call popinjay an extremist...

Hmm. When did I call popinjay an extremist? I think he's pretty conventional. Nothing extreme there except for his personality.

I am the extremist. I am extreme for liberty. I make no bones about it.

    Ooops.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/21528

GOP Conference Chairman Mike Pence is defending Republican use of a widely disputed cost estimate on a Democratic global warming proposal, even after an outcry from media, environmentalists, and climate change experts.

“We are using the numbers that are in the public domain right now,” said Pence (R-Ind.) in a Tuesday briefing with reporters. “Democrats have released no numbers.”

In speeches, interviews, and press releases, Republicans have repeatedly claimed that a cap and trade system would raise energy prices an average of $3,100 per household – a figure they got by doing some additional calculations off an MIT analysis.

MIT’s John Reilly, one of the authors of the study, slammed their use of his estimates earlier this month.

"It's just wrong," he told Politifact in an interview. "It's wrong in so many ways it's hard to begin."

The report, wrote Reilly in a letter to House Republican Leader John Boehner, “has been misrepresented in recent press releases distributed by the National Republican Congressional Committee.”

Reilly put the correct estimate at about $340, saying his analysis assumed that at least some of the revenue would be returned to consumers to offset their rates.

But who needs those fancy MIT researchers when you can just make something up.  And the cost to the consumer is all up to the private companies.  I'm sure they'll pass some on.

I've not seen that article, so I can say, at the moment, I stand corrected. Even so, the energy companies are going to pass that $340 to the consumer, so, that gives a whopping average of a $60 tax cut for the "average worker" - five whole dollars per month.

Not even that, you have to add in the rise in prices for all goods and services. The cost of everything they use own and buy will increase, and they will be losing much more per month just to live at all.

What is not considered in this equation is when you raise the electric bill on all business, and tax their incomes, they pass these costs on to the consumer as well. EVERYTHING will increase in price, everything from the price of food to diapers will have a price increase.

The libertarian party has never BEEN given a chance because they do not even allow them in the main debates. They represent people, not businesses or beurocrats,  Just where have I shown hate? The only hate I have seen spewed is when you try to use logic and reason to try to get your point across. The only party I have ever been affiliated with is the Libertarian party, I love how you always get an "auto response" when you discuss true issues. it is always :

    1. you must have voted for Bush.

    2. insult and throw the post offtopic rather than discuss the topic at hand.

    3.  they don;t even bother reading the thread or the posts, just assume that if you do not agree with Obama then you must be a racist, reedneck, or an extremist.

FYI.. I voted for clinton because I was afraid of Bush. I always VOTED AGAINST BUSH, not because I liked the other guy, but because Bush scared the bejeebies out of me, just as Obama does now.

Bush was Hard Mode bad. I liked him personally, he seemed like a decent sort of guy. But he either had no spine, or was being held hostage by something or just didn't give a crap. Either way, he allowed things in the United States to go completely batshit.

I have no idea how you can run on a platform of less government and less spending, then turn around and create the biggest government since probably FDR. I have no idea how you can run on a platform of "We are not the world's policeman", to opening up two wars in two seperate countries at the same time, while picking a fight with two more (Iran, North Korea). I have no idea how you can say you are for freedoms and democracy then enact the most sweeping privacy invasion act ever seen since WW2.

I don't know how someone can take WORLDWIDE public and governmental sympathies on par with levels that would rival an alien space invasion on N.Y., then in less than 5 years have those same people probably secretly wishing there were more attacks on the U.S. because of how we acted after. I don't know how someone can allow the laws of the country to become so twisted, as to even entertain a thought of torture, let alone twisting arms and opinions to allow it. Watching a steady parade of high finance lawyers, hedgefund managers and ceos walk away with billions or walk away to jail just got way to real and commonplace. These people who kept trying to poke their nose into my bedroom, place a restrictive hand on my grandma's ventilator, bottle up my stem cells, tell me what to do with my own body and who to marry while getting caught in airport and bustop Men's restrooms or molesting pages was too much to take.

These things all left me wondering about Bush. Was he a coward to stand up to Republicans, did they have something hard against him, or did he just not care? I don't know what the answer is... maybe a combination of some. All I know is, I was tired of it all and wanted a change. I'll be honest, I didn't care if Abraham Lincoln would have risen from the dead with Gandhi as a running mate and ran again, I wouldn't have voted for him if he was a Republican. I'll freely admit that. Why? Because the people running the show wasn't Bush-- that much was plain. There's some really gangerous thing somewhere deep within the Republican party that allowed all that stuff to happen. I don't know ultimately who was the ringleader, but that doesn't matter now. All that matters is that a cancerous part of this nation is dying and no longer able to effect that serious type of harm to the nation. It could have been Milli Vanilli as a tag team, but as long as they were Democrat or Independant, they would have gotten my vote. That Obama actually happened to be the best man for the job was just cake.

If Obama is for free health care, I'm for it. If Obama is for trimming down the size of the military in Europe and asking those countries to pick up their own slack, I'm for it. If Obama wants companies, businesses and wealthy people to stop hiding money in offshore carribean or Swiss bank accounts and pay their fair share instead of just claiming they are, I'm for it.

I'm for change. And after eight years, I can be more patient than 100 days.

This statement shows just how duped you are.  If you think there is such a thing as FREE healthcare, you are sorely mistaken.  Government mandate is going to mean more confiscation of wealth from the private sector.

And I suppose those who pay no taxes, yet receive tons of government aide including, but not limited to: TANF, Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, food stamps, daycare assistance, utility assistance, housing assistance, EIC, or any other form of government aid are paying there their fair share?

How about you? Do you pay your fair share? Or when you file your return, is there a big fat zero on taxes owed and a big fat positive number for a refund for your EIC?

Dek that's an illogical argumemt because first of all everyone pays taxes direct or indirect. So even a person that his wage/salary/whatever doesn't have him oweing taxes still pays indirect ones for absolutely everything.

Furthermore the difference is in the legality of between these 2 categories.

This statement shows just how duped you are.  If you think there is such a thing as FREE healthcare, you are sorely mistaken.  Government mandate is going to mean more confiscation of wealth from the private sector.

So a homeless guy stopping by the pharmacy for his regular free meds is not free healthcare?

No, actually nothing in life is free. Someone pays for it somewhere. The costs of the medication is added on to the costs to paying consumers. For every complimentary medication that is given out, it raises the price of medication for everyone else. That is just how it works.

For the government to receive a reduced cost in medication or services, the companies just raise the price to compensate for the loss in revenue on the private sector; Thus increasing costs to consumers and insurance companies. This results in everyone paying more for the services they already receive.

When the US goes to universal healthcare, the companies will be forced to raise the prices on any medications and services offered to all countries. Many of these countries will not be able to afford the increased costs and will be facing either 1. Bankruptcy or 2. raised taxes in order to keep up. Either that or they will be forced to drop their universal coverage because it will then be made too expensive to cover everyone.

What most people fail to understand is that the US citizens agreed to pay more for their healthcare than other nations so that those countries could receieve affordable healthcare. When we go to universal coverage, it will result in a decline in healthcare around the globe. Countries will be forced to receive medications from unreliable sources to recieve medication at their current rate.

Everything does have a price, everything has an opposite but equal reaction. You have to weigh the good with the bad when considering this matter. It is all a matter of what people globally are willing to sacrifice to make this happen.
