Having trouble with space combat

djnexusdjnexus Member Posts: 677

I upgraded my ship from the tie light starter ship to the normal tie fighter, im now in the tier 2 missions and a member of the storm squadron, whenever I try and goto the Lok system to start the first mission in Tier 2 im constantly getting whipped by tier 2 and 3 ships that are attacking me and have to bail out. Im upto my 5th box in training and have my new tie fighter equipped with level 2 and 3 ship parts, Im not able to use anything higher right now. Can anyone suggest anything to me on what I should do?

What I did was to ask someone for help, tbh. I vaguely remember a discussion where people basically agreed that there was a abit of a gap in the difficulty curve, requiring either to grind xp to get to the next tier or, as I did, get another pilot to help you out. Frustarted the hell out of me, getting ganked over and over ;)

  • I left storm squadron when I got to 2/3 into tier 3 myself.  The escort mission where you have to kill the waves of a-wings before the next wing shows up is just stupid.

I went imperial iquisiotn instead and got past teir 3 easy.

  • Also Storm squadron missions tend to run you into spawns of non-mission extra NPCs.  This is probably what is clobbering you.

You need to kind of be aware of where the non-mission NPC groups spawn, because some of those are higher level or infinite spawns.

SS is just screwed you on multiple levels, whoever made the missions is either sadistic or incompetent.

If you take some time getting the right equipment for the job, Storm Squad missions are not that hard. Sometimes you need a good engine, sometimes a good shield etc…

SOE has already made many of those missions easier than original, so complaining about them now it’s not worth the time. Gear up and actually take your time to try different approaches with good equipment, and you will succeed.

All of them are doable solo.

The mission the OP references is the only Mission you're given on Lok when progressing the Storm Squadron pilot profession.  For a player advancing through the quest arch you are going to be extremely lucky to defeat this one.  All do respect, you absolutely need help.  (I made 5 or 6 attempts before requesting help; primary goal should be to disable the YT, use missles if you've got 'm!)

Best advice would be to join the Pilot channel for the server you're on and ask for help with the Imperial Mission on Lok; titled something Kimogila.  Sorry I don't have the link but checking the offiicial SWG sections under professions, Pilot, then FAQ's will give you more info on the quest.

I just completed this one 2-3 days ago and it was not possible with a single Tie.  Someone kind enough to help launched us in a Gunship then parked it about 500m from the targets.  Need I say everything was virtualy one-shotted?  :)

The next series of missions on Yavin will be much easier to complete as a solo pilot in a Tie fighter, at least the first two were...
