What is most important Skills, Strategy, or Gear?

As the title says What is the more important: your characters skill level deciding how powerful your character is thus it only matters that you get a high level in skills and it doesn't matter how well you plan, or what equipment you have.

Is it the reverse and only how good your equipment matters not your skills or strategy (WoW).  

Or will it be how strategiclly you think that matters how well you plan and how you exicute your plan that decides it and gear and skills are secondary.

Is it a little bit of all of these or just one of them.

I personally feel that strategy should definitely be the most important but I want skills to help improve my options and gear to augment my skills.

What does every one else want for a system?
