     Jedi, duh.

    Jedi/Lightsaber = Tank

    Sith/Lightsaber = DPS

    Jedi/Powers = Buff/Heal

    Sith/Powers = Debuff

I think they are more of a DPS class...

Was there a tank in SWG?

I havent played it in a long time.

Is SWTOR going to ascribe to the tank, dps, healer trinity?  Or will there be a skill set that players can choose that could accomplish a tankish role?  Maybe skills that could taunt and be heavy in defensive abilities like parry, evade, etc.

Seems more and more upcoming MMOs (DC Universe, Champions) are giving players options to load up their own "builds" to provide a role for a situation. This is handy because it reduces the need to wait to find a particular class before enjoyig the game. It also gives more customization and personalization.

I would love to have some info if Bioware is considering something like this. Imagine a Jedi or bounty hunter who wants to emphasize on being a tank or choose a tankish build when a scenario calls for it. Jedi could pick skills or apply skill points to defensive tactics and taunt skills, while a Bounty Hunter could pick from evasion tactics, armor sets or tech to provide more protection, but less dps output..

The question is, IS there a tank in TOR? So far I dont imagine we will see the classic trinity here, at least not in the strict sense. I cant imagine a heroic game like TOR is aimed to be have mere heal bot classes. Jedi are not tanks, at least not as I regard Jedi, but I guess we know too little about this.

I really wish bioware would stop filling every news 98% with "it's about story" over and over and give some REAL info about this game. I never understood why they waited so long in the first place or all this "we let you know when its ready" balderdash, as if we were some kids waiting for the christmas tree to be ready. At some point all the secret-mongering just starts to piss me off. Giving us little by litte... I just dont like it. I am damn sure they have lotsa detail but they play the "keeping ppl in suspence" number.

Why would we want a game filled with the same limited role class system that every other failing game seems to follow. Making a class only a 'tank 'or a 'healer' does nothing for game or story other then limit the world in which the game thrives. In the Star Wars universe there are no healers unless you use drugs or see a medic. And I dont recall Chewie screaming "I'll tank the storm troopers Han you use your blaster and DPS!" Leave that kind of non-sense out!

    LOL, fun to imagine, yeah.

Still, I would not want TOR a potion spamming game either. I vividly hate games with potion spamming. I wonder how else you can take care of healing? Hmm...

Brawler / Teras Kasi Artist was a very good tank profession pre-cu and "officialised" as a tank class in the CU.

Jedi took that role in the NGE.

I hope theres no tank or dps roles. Hate it when you want to play a class but people moan that you don't do your "Job". Every class should be able to play anyway they want. So you can go for a tank style but if you don't want to you can do dps.
