The cycle never ends...

I find it interesting how the cycle repeats ad nauseam.
The same arguments are put forth from all sides of opinion over and over with each new game. Generally, the opinions begin to solidify before release, a month or so out from release, posters begin to form opinions (good or bad) about the game. Those opinions are further cemented and "proven" by each new video or dev chat that comes out.
Game releases, immediately followed by drama about the launch. This is always the best time to be on the boards, as the anger, accusations, and vitriol fly from both sides. In most cases, the launch has problems, and this is fuel for the fire baby!
Pretty soon, the fanboys and Haters begin to distill their arguments down to the basics. "Go back to WoW" "How much do you get paid for each shill post?"
Then (as we are in the DF cycle right now), any criticism what so ever no matter how valid is a Troll/Hater.
While any praise for the game even deserved is met with Fanboy/Shill.
Soon, the boards will cool as the huge issues facing this release are fixed.
However, MO boards are about the beginning of the cycle, so the fun continues.

Seriously man. No offense but do we really need another thread talking about Fanbois/Trolls/Haters? This has all been run into the ground. These terms are just a way of insulting someone who has a different opinion.
Sure there are people that deliberately make posts to incite argument, but those people are assholes, they're assholes about everything, they're probably assholes to their own parents/friends/girlfriends. Calling them trolls is just giving them a title they can take pride in.
I know. Sometimes, I can be an asshole too.
More of an observation of the repeated pattern. I deliberately tried not to demonize anyone more than the other. It could be argued this post could go in any games forums.
It's not about one side or the other, just how it playes out the same with every game launch.

why does every hater mention WoW?
WoW is like Wallstreet is now. It's easy to hate on, and safe, because there will be tons of people who will instantly agree.
It's the biggest out there, and therefore the most popular target.
Most likely, the people that bash WoW paid to play it for a year or more, only to turn around and bash it as the worst game....while they jump from game to game every few months.
The cycle will end when Blizzard or Soe release a good MMORPG in the tradition of EQ or WoW.
That's the whole point of public forum - people voice their opinions and concerns. Its like passing the freedom of speech law and then complaining about people speaking up. Most of the time posts are fairly decent and have a grain of thought in it, those that don not should be simply ignored. Don't bring haters/trolls subject up because all you do is just pour oil into the fire.

SOE doesnt release good games. They pound them into crap, make then unplayable and then introduce cash shops.
The best time to be reading these forums was about a year ago, trust me. They're relatively tame now that the game has actually [sort of] released. The arguments about whether the game actually existed or was just a scam were some of the best in the history of the Internet, LOL!

Because they know 11 M of subscribers plays Wow, they know it's one of the best MMOS in the market and they know DFO is one of the worst. Wow is for everyone, DFO is not for everyone but for some fanboys.
I was trying to get some objective reviews about Darkfall, but it's obviously impossible these days. I will make like the OP suggests and wait a couple of months before coming back. Things will have settled down, and the game will have received some patches and polish.
Same thing happened with Warhammer. You could hardly get a single valid opinion during the weeks after launch. Now things are much better on the forum and you can quite easily tell the forces and weaknesses of the game.

You know that popular = crap around here. The only good games are those that are hanging on to barely 100K subs ... apparently.
ah but troll & hater tears are so sweet...
with every tear-filled emo outburst in the DF forum they only prove how bad the other MMOs around really are. true story.
Just because other MMOs are bad to you, doesn't mean that Darkfall is by comparison, "good".
You're just using Darkfall as a game to play while there's nothing else worth playing for you. I'v egone back to Team Fortress and UT3, waiting now for Mortal Online. If that sucks, I'll probably go back to TF and UT3 again.

That's true but was warranted with the way AV conducts their business.
Also, I'd like to point out just a couple things the fans were repeatedly saying that didn't come true. They tend to ignore anything they previously stated that didn't happen.
1. We will ALL be able to try the game BEFORE we have to purchase it. Remember that? I can't even count how many posts that line was used in when defending the game. Well... Turns out... The release is nothing more than a PAID beta/stress test. Can't argue this at this point because no matter whether you find it fun or not, that's exactly what it is in reality.
2. This will be a SANDBOX game, just like UO. YAY! We will finally have a sandbox to do whatever we want to do in. Hmmm.... Wrong. This is absolutely NOT a sandbox game and NOTHING like UO. Every single post from players say if you don't belong to a gulld there's really no point in playing.
3. The game was FULLY tested in "closed" beta by PROFESSIONAL testers and will be perfect when released. Marvelous AI bots were also used so there is NO need for a legitimate beta and stress test. The game is MORE ready to release than any other game ever at this point in time. Remember those?
4. They have a wonderful distributor/partner now. A legitimate company known as Audio Visual. YAY! Truth is... Audio Visual has done virtually NOTHING. NOTHING AT ALL! Truth is... Audio Visual not only has NOT produced a game box at this point, but they haven't even shown the BOX ART! So basically... What was that partnership about anyway?
I could go on... but you get my point.
Fans repeated the above topics every chance they got to defend their game. Not one of them was true. Short memories I'd say.
