Not a jerk, but honestly DAOC is still there and as fun (on the classic servers) as before. You may want to go back if only for the nostalgia.

WAR isnt where DAOC was when you (and many others) left. However, neither was DAOC  months after its release. It took a while before DAOC became one of the best PvP games out there.

Ive little doubt that WAR will get there as well. It has the foundation. The biggest issue is that players as a community dont have the patience for MMOs to mature as they one did.

Its not that people do not have the patience anymore, its that there is so much more expected out of an MMO these days.  When DAOC released it was a truly unique game.  WAR is 10x worse than DAOC, and that is simply inexcusable.  Mythic had all the DAOC resources at their fingertips, so why does ORVR suck in WAR?   The DAOC rvr format was an absolute winner, but still Mythic tried to reinvent the wheel.  They should have just improved the DAOC rvr system instead of trying to make this game WOW with pvp.

Agreed, I don`t understand how they fail so miserably in the core design of WAR when they already had everything to make this game a winner.

    1. A great IP

    2.DAoC experience

3.Why so many failed Post WoW

And yet they gave us a stale, boring and meaningless MMO

Shame on an company for trying to be inovating and not re-using old stuff. I do understand your points though, however this game was not suppose to be an DAOC 2, they never said so if I am not mistaken. They wanted to make something new.

Personly I like WAR more then I liked DAOC when I played it. Tried to play it again, but the server are shamefully to dead to make it worth it for me to invest time into it (atleast EU server) maybe if they release this origin the server might get more poeple and I might give it a try again.

I have to agree that WAR could have been so much more then it is now and I hope though patches and improvements it will be. Using the expirience gained from DOAC would not be bad and taking the good part from it and use it in this system aint bad either, but I believe it is good that a company like to start new when making a new game. Infact in patch 1.2 they will implement something with seems to comes from DOAC.

I still play DAoC.  It's still fun, during peak hours you can get a good seige going.  I think alot of people (myself included) gave WAR a hard time because we wanted it to be DAoC2.  When really, that was never the objective that Mythic set out for.  I do agree that the RvR system in DAoC still hasn't been matched, or any game has come even remotely close to it.  There's just a rush of adrenaline you get when you make your way up those last stairs to kill the Lord .  I just never got that with WAR.

Also I think alot of the reason why WAR wasn't DAoC2 was that Games Workshop had some say (not 100% sure, but I wouldn't lend my baby to someone to change it all up) in what the gameplay should be like.

WARHAMMER thru time should progress into something fantastic, but alot of people dont want to wait and want it all now, which I can't blame them. Once you tasted DAoC, well you want something better and expect more from the same company. Its the nature of the beast.

    On another issue.

If MYTHIC released a DAoC 2, I can gurantee you that they would have another kick ass game, because they already got the tools from they need. I believe there will always be room for another title, however MYTHIC has too much wrapped in WAR right now and neglecting DAoC (I believe).

I am assuming there will be DAoC 2 down the road, maybe 3 to 5 years from now. But I don't want to go ahead and spread rumors. Mythic though should get to working on DAoC Origins, because the game itself still is majorly fun with a group of friends or guild.

I think Mythic was smart in not creating a DAOC2 title. Players need fresh new lands to conquer, not the same ones over and over again. Its one of the reasons that EQ2 never took off and why there will be no WoW 2.

Mythic's Epic Fail was to cancel production of "Imperator" then take on WAR down the road and make it into a terrible WOW carbon copy to many exstent. They should have stuck with "Imperator" it was far different and would have brought something fresh to this boring, stale, and playless MMO scene....

I know Mythic was trying to make something new... and I understand the probability of DAOC 2 wasnt going to happen ... but for anybody has actually has a 40 and that has played DAOC will notice something is missing ... im not the only one that feels this way...

I thought to myself if I was mythic how would I fix this ... but I dont know whats missing ... I just know its not there... its sounds crazy but thats the way I feel ... my brother still plays and he is having a great time... both of us are from DAOC both of us had more than one account for buff bots and whatnot... probably about 17 level 50's between us... the difference between us now is that he doesnt have a 40 in WAR yet... and I dont have the will to create 'N level another level 40

80% of WOW is implemented into WAR ... I understand why they did this ... but when you give WOW a new skin and slightly new features ... is the game really new?

Ill be honest I really wanted this to be DAOC 2... I miss storming the keep aswell ... I miss charging in head first into a huge battle that has already started between Albs and Hibs...I loved how I could acquire skills that actually made a difference in my performance in RvR... and blah blah blah

im done ranting I guess ... the reality of it is (I have nothing to play now hahaha) ... thanks everybody for coming out

WAR is the way it is now because Mythic listened to its whiney player base. The same whiney players who got rolled all the time in PUGS in DAoC by good players with skills.

Takes no skill to play warhammer, Warhammer is dumbed down easymode rvr for idiots.

Have fun with the POS called Warhammer Online.

I never played DAOC so from that perspective i still find WAR boring. I enjoyed it for the first month but it doesnt last long once you hit 40 and the end game. Endless Tor Anroc instances got old fast.

Its a PvE game dressed up as an RvR one. Mythic i think actually realises this now but it is going to take months and months, perhaps a year or so to change and fix the game to what it should have been at launch.

By the time that happens i will be playing some other mmo and will have no reason to go back. Its not a bad game but its not a great game either. Its just the mmo for me (or my friends).

I tried WAR with the same expectation.  Thinking it would be like DAOC.  I lasted two weeks then cancelled the account and went back to LOTRO.   If Mythic had made DAOC2, I would be there.  If they had taken the resources they devoted to WAR and made Hibernia, Midgard and Albion all over with new graphics, not only would they have attracted players to the concept but the majority of the tens of thousands who played would return in droves.   I reactivate my account from time to time and visit all the nostalgic places for a week or two but the world is so empty now.  I return to Jordheim and its empty.  There are no smiths at the forge, no tailors taking orders from smiths to make the old Heavy Stakakeda for Warrior, Thane or Bard.   You go to Svasud and there is nobody there.   just a lonely Alb here and there and sometimes, even though "he is speaking a language you don't understand", you blow him a kiss just because... instead of nuking the hell out of him and he does the same.   Where are the Zergs of old that were so much fun?   WAR?  WAR is nothing like DAoC and the biggest disappointment was thinking that it could have been... but I ramble... I apologize...

    Correct!

However, you can't blame Mythic for listening to it's customers. I also believe the 'whiners' spoilt DAoC. Instead of playing the game the way it was intended, they wanted the game to be played the way THEY wanted it..and WAR is what we got.

Fast action, no death penalty, no committment, no communication, no feeling..

Killing an enemy in DAoC gave me a buzz, a sense of achievement. In WAR it's like, ok you're dead, next plz..And I don't even look at their name.

The game is like your typical attractive blonde. Great to look at, but you simply get bored.

Bring on DAoC 2 I say!

To be honest I think that a lot of MMO players in general are getting to the point that nothings good enough unless its perfection.People/Gamers(not all mind you) are getting to anal with how GOOD a game should be.WARs got its ups and downs, but what game has not had them.

DAoC 2 would scare me. Just more easymode ,they are in the habbit of it now and are ruined.

Casual gamers should go play item mall games. Quit ruining our P2P MMO's.

I would love it if DAOC 2 was in production.

I honestly think after all the posts about WAR failing and the hope for DAOC 2, mythic would be nutz to not be seriously thinking about putting it in production.

We are talking about up to 3-5 years away but once warhammer settles down, maybe after the rvr dungeon is implemented and first retail expansion i would expect DAOC 2 to be on the drawing board on the fact that mythic know they have a core base for it already.

The only way WAR could get near DAOC potential  would be  to have zones like emain, implement speed classes ( i dont like the mounts, keep lagging) and more importantly a 3rd realm etc, which i think one of the devs said would never happen lol

Oh well heres hoping DAOC 2 becomes a reality one day.

We could have had daoc2 in the form of origins, shame it appears that is now scrapped.

I'm putting DAoC in my fond memories of a great game that once was.

Funny how many posts there were that the game was unbalanced and that TOA  and buff bots ruined it :)

I suspect we are only remembering the good bits lol.

Don't get me wrong I loved that game for four years. So how would we like to see DAoC 2?

It would have WAR quests, and PQ, and maps. It would have classic ruleset, but have TOA zones and quests but not master levels (well maybe like the champion levels which were good but not overpowering).

Oh and graphics like AoC/LoTR. I can't wait to get back to killing bolderings again.

You know it wouldnt of been so bad if Mythic had never created DAoC ... meaning WAR would of been the first (major) release and the expectation wouldnt of been so high ... all they really had to do is progress from previous work..

It has been said before, but the real problem with WAR rests in the fact that its RVR is lackluster. It is inexcusable that WAR's RVR is worse than the RVR of a game made a decade ago, and to put more salt on the wounds they were developed by the same people. Some may say that expectations are too high, but I at least want my games to improve over time or become more refined in their presentation.

I am not sure I need DAoC 2, but something that has equivalent or better RVR/PvP would be welcome.
