Melee combat: Darkfall vs Mount & Blade

Did anyone of guys saying combat in DF is fun played M&B?

So far i seen from videos its joke and I'm probably not going to play DF after few years waiting.

Because M&B is going to be multiplayer which is not MMO for sure but will satisfy me alongside with playing DOTA on high level (That means you play with pickup of your contry).

 

For ppls complain about im troll i can say what exactly i dont find good on melee combat in DF:

- You can take sooo much hits before you fall down and it looks like it doesnt matter in which part of body you take the hit because =>

- You can't aim your swing up/down you just swing in the same level same animation over and over

- You can't decide if you want to swing from left/right/overhead or stab with your weapon. Which was done in M&B very intuitive without any additional keys for every direction like we have it in AoC.

- The group combat deny formations which is very important part of M&B to stick the mass together, but there with swing just from left-right its bunch of peoples mixed circling around and swinging.

edit: For whom can complain even M&B have some flaws there for example 2 horse group fighting against each other can make a little bit mess around battleground. But its actually cause of missing advanced AI commands. But I'm sure peoples get to where I'm pointing about Darkfall chaos.

    U CAN aim ur swings.

    That being said im sure there are single player games out there with better combat then Darkfall after all they are single player games. (that u can play multiplayer with ur friends if u want to.)

     

    If thats ur thing then go for it, this is about playing an MMO after all.

    There are sideswing and overhead hit, other than that you have weapon skills knockback, seize and some others i forgot the names on.

    M&B is a good game, no doubt about it 

     

    DF is a good game too. You can control your swings, block with your shield, and parry with your weapon

    QFT, absolutely no doubt about it.

    M&B also emphasis on the use of mount (hence, the name). Glad to see DF having the same combat system as M&B, now if they can emphasis more on the mount :P

    mount and blade combat > darkfall combat. BUT M&B is a single player and DF is mmo, you cant compare them.

     

    Imo for improve DF combat system they must fix the block/parry, making it faster and dinamic like on M&B.

     I suck at Mount and Blade, does this mean I will suck at Darkfall? :P

    Mount and Blade lacks any  magic in combat (no heal, no potions, no buffs, debuffs)  --also no moves like knockback or pull closer in Mellee.. i enjoy M&B a lot  but i know is a single player game and understand what to expect from single player game and what from MMORPG..

    You can continue to play singleplayer game and ignore the fact you post in a MMORPG forum..i LOL at your type of  ppl too..

    I do absolutely understand what are you guys trying to say (like you can't compare mmo with singleplayer what i actualy do) but i think yes why i can't the combat can be much better then we have actualy in DF. I will try to create vid with comments to make this clear what im trying to say.

    Ofcourse you can compare them, these guys only tries to defend Darkfall's poor combat system with the fact that it's an MMO..But that is certainly not a warrented excuse, in this case as the combat is as much realtime as any singleplayer game, like Mount and Blade or Oblivion..

    Darkfall's combat is there, albeit with ugly and slow animations.

    You can set your weapon for swing or head over blow, if you swing right or left is random, you can also use an active block with you shield.

    It is an MMO with RPG and FPS sytle elements to be precise. If the addon for M&B get released it will still be a singleplayer game with possibility to play multiplayer maps including  all the limitations compared to an MMORPG. And we are here for an MMORPG ..or you missed the genre if you expected singleplayer talk here..

    Would you guys say DF is similar to that type of combat?

    better or worse?

    Since Age of chivalry is a multiplayer pvp game i figured I would ask.

    Age of chivalry is basically M&B without the mounted combat.

    yes sadly DF's combat is nowhere nearly as fun as M&B.

     

    And there is no excuse DF being an MMO; they use real-time combat, it's just the implementation that's not good. They could have included combat similar to M&B if they had tried a bit...

    Hmmm, but they say they like this game and will try to make combat so nice as m&b did with very low resources. Actualy lots of peoples know M&B cause DF point at it.

    M&B kicks DF's ass.  My one big hope before beta was that DF combat would be like M&B.

    Darkfall combat is lame. It's skilless circle running while spamming left mouse clicks. That's it. I haven't logged into DF for the past 3 weeks, not desire at all. The graphics are ass, the UI is clunky and the foced FPS mode gets me seasick.

    So your only argument for darkfall's inferior combat system, compared to M&B's, is that one of them is an MMO and the other is not? really? you can do better than that, cant you?

     

    there is only, and i repeat.. ONLY, one argument for combat systems not being better in MMOs; latency. In order to have a fair level of playing field amongst players with various connections, devs design the combat systems keeping that in mind (ie Global Cooldown timers and stuff like that). Darkfall's combat is very close, if not equal, to Real Time combat (im not sure if there are GCDs in the game or not). Therefore, the way you fight people in Darkfall is very close (in implementation) to M&B's. What we, the forum members, are trying to discuss is that the combat in DarkFall should have been way more fun, way more realistic, and way more dynamic. Furthermore, comparing DF's developing budget with M&B's budget (keeping in mind DF spent a very minimal amomunt on marketing & advertising), we can see how DF fell short of achieving a combat system greater or equal to M&B's combat.

     

    Now will you please come up with a reply that is other than "single player forum is that way --->" ?
