Well, we'll see how this pans out - hoping they release some sort of "info" this year sometime (blizcon, E3?) i dunno.

Like most people have said they dont want to compete with the game WoW in any way.

So my guess would be having a opposite mmo compared to what WoW is.

So im guessing it will be sci-fi because there are really two types of people sci-fi and fantasy, then you have the odd games such as mmos with racing and so forth etc.

Maybe the game will be more of a sandbox type of game to appeal to the people looking for a decent game for that.

That or they will go nuts and try something new maybe something like a MMORTS - they have mastered the MMO, and the RTS elements...why not chuck them both in one hmm...we'll see :).

I got pactience and will get to see something soon enough. Life goes on!

Well, Blizzard actualy cares about the community's opinion.

If anyone thinks that's unfair competition.. just go play a free MMO and let the rest enjoy WoW. :)

Blizz could give two shits about the player base. I have played WoW since day one. They know as well as everyone else for every jaded player that quits five more have joined. They were SLOW on making many class changes that have been screamed for years. It has been four years now, they know there game is dieing the slow MMO death that comes from great sucess. Not hating Blizz since I have recently returned. Just an MMO  junky who has observed the cycle of life for MMO's. I think Blizz will time this perfectly to kill WoW and syphon its own player base to its new game. Somthing many companys have failed to do.

Imagine a world of starcraft. Lol its the end of mmo as we know it.
Starcraft franchise has 3 times more fanbase then warcraft franchise alone.
I welcome world of starcraft though.
I have no doubt in my mind starcraft mmo would be an instant millions of subscribers on day 1.

Well, that isn't true, we don't know if Starcraft will be a good IP to use for a MMO before they actually releasedthe game if they do.

Lord of the rings have more fans than 36 millions and yet Wow have quite a few more players and Warhammer have a lot more tabletop players. It is a good thing to have a famous IP but you don't just automaticly get all the fans into another type of game in the same world.

I am not so sure that SC would fit as good as WC did for a MMO.

How many players does Warhammer have? I highly doubt they would have more players than any of the Blizzard SP games. Table top games are a smaller market than video games.

I would kill for a good Sci-fi MMO but if Blizzard make it look/play anything like WoW they can forget my sub.

TT is more promenant in Europe then the US. Also 40k has a much larger fan base then the Warhammer line up. There are more options with the 40k game play from squad based small games to space battles. Also the role playing P&Pgame is growing rapidly.  The novels are insanley popular with non TT players. THQ is releasing the 40k mmo and I expect it to do much better then the failure Mythic made. THQ has been pretty true to the TT brutal violence,  I expect them to keep with it. Sorry slight derailment

Well first off it WON'T be a starcraft MMO, even blizzard is intelligent enough to realize that you can't ask people to play bugs.

Who knows what the new MMO will be, but the did NOT announce it as of yet.  So speculations aside we will just have to wait and see what they are working on when Blizzard does deign to announce it.

Oh and I have read some of the Warhammer 40k books.  Talk about trash, they are the epitome of it.  If you can't find some better sci-fi books than that I feel sorry for you.  A War 40k MMO will have to deal with a small niche market, smaller than what Mythic deals with.

Blizzard knows how popular the starcraft franchise is, there going to tap it, i dont care how many times they deny it, they deny everything with all there games. Im just afriad there going to f it up becuase a sci-fi MMO is near nothing like a fantasy MMO, and if they try to mix devolopers well have a WoW clone. But Blizzard isnt stupid, they make kick ass games and rarely make stupid desicons, WoW dosent have 10mil+  for nothing.

When life gives you lemons..............................Throw them back and say I dont want no Fing lemons

Meh... Untill they announce what it actually is it's just a lot of PR spin on Blizzard's part. This game could be almost anything at this point so all of this speculation is meaningless. Let me know when they actually have a title to announce and then I might get excited.

There have been no new substantive announcements about this. The announcement itself is extremely old. Lock the thread or let it die.

Yeah, I clicked this thread expecting NEWS.  What I got was a bunch of speculation and arguments about a project which was announced in 2006.  Please lock.
