this is all my OPINION and i do not intent to force these ideas on you as true. please do not take anything in this seriously. do however be respectful of it and only comment on the post not me or anyone else. sorry i have to put this but some people just get carried away.
Why do people get bored with mmo's like wow? is it because of the time it takes to do anything in them? do they take too much time out of your hands just to accomplish one thing like get that cool piece of armor in a 4 hour dungeon? is it the community and how little children tend to get on and just run their mouths cause they have nothing better to do with their free time? how about seeing the same thing over and over again like elves and enchanted forests? maybe its the lack of competition or cooperating with other players. how about that one thing that people always whine about, GRIND? yes that is it the grind. it is in pretty much every mmo. you level up by goin to person a, do b, then go to c. it is the same thing isnt it? but wait isnt the dialogue and the quests different? so what is so repetitive about it? maybe its that one thing you always do, and that one thing is COMBAT.
most mmo's nowadays revolve around the combat. almost everything you do either requires you to be in combat or aids it in some way. but it is the same thing in all these mmo's. it is the click on the monster, get into range, watch the two of you wack at each other while clicking and watching your abilities and wait for the dice to roll and decide whos winner. are you even doing anything though? isnt the game deciding who wins based on calculations? does bunny hopping or even being on higher ground even help in these fights? pretty much no its whoevers higher level, better equipment, and the better class who wins. so why even play it if you know the outcome? why do you have to wait 3 minutes just to kill someone? this is why quests are so repetitive they take way too long just because of the combat. if you and the monster are the same level its gonna take a minute or two just to see who wins.
we need a new combat system. sure people are happy with overcoming all those monsters in that dungeon to get that special item, or achieving max level and go and gank noobs. in the end though all you did is play longer. why cant playing the game be fun instead of whats at the end? people enjoy games like halo and call of duty because fighting each other is fun and fastpaced. they can be on the same map 20 times and still have fun and accomplish alot more than doing a 4 hour dungeon in wow. if developers think about this maybe we can have that one mmo that stands out from the crowd and maybe even make wow drop down in numbers. its not how much crap is in the game its if its fun to play. these are just games after all dont make them so complicated it feels like work. they are simply tools to keep us entertain in our free time.

You don't understand that everybodys idea of fun just isn't the same. My ideal game could be the complete opposite of yours. Personally, I didn't find Halo or Call of Duty fun, and I hate playing the same map 20 times. If somebody created a game like that and it defeated WoW, another group of people would complain. They would say your ideal game is garbage, they want the old SWG back. Anyway, there are plenty of casual MMORPGs out there. You should try Lunia, Grand Chase, Dungeon and Fighter, Combat Arms, Warrock, GunZ, Infinity and tons of other "fun" online games. Those games seem exactly like what you're looking for. Those games are all casual friendly with real time combat, no 4 hour dungeons, easy to level, and all about fun.
all those games arnt mmo's though. i would like to see the persistent world that is shaped by the players and have a fun combat system. pretty much i dont want to have to wait 3 minutes to kill someone or be killed.
you can have a game that can overthrow wow very easily. just make a new combat system and just work off that and you can have a game that can easily overthow it. you gotta make the repetition fun and that is why people whine about wow and sadly pay other people to lvl up for them.
anyone have a comment on it?
