Ok, so I was searching for a digital download of Lotro, because I dislike boxed versions. So, I look at turbine's store and notice they only have the complete pack. I, only wanting to get the base game because I am a cheap bastard, go to look elsewhere. I then stumble upon codemasters and see that apparently, they also manage the game. I'm confused here now. Who officially owns this game? Also, if I buy the game from codemasters, do both them and turbine have the same servers?

Codemaster is the publisher and service provider for the European market. It's version of Lord of the Rings will only work for that area. Turbine self publishes and runs the game in the U.S. area. The game is made and owned by Turbine.
Ah, thank you for clearing that up. Seems like I'm stuck with getting a boxed version then, unless there's another way of getting just Shadows of Angmar digitally.
im just wondering how much is the game without the new expansion now. i bought the game with expantion.. however is there a trial you could download then change it to full sub.. not sure how it works.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?

Why do you dislike boxed versions?

That's why I was looking at codemasters, because they offer it for $15. (Which also confused me, because usually if something is european only it will show it in pounds, not dollars)
There is currently no trial program available because of the recent release of Mines of Moria. To download the U.S. version of Lord of the Rings, see this support page. You still have to purchase the game box in order to play. There may be some websites that unofficially allow you to purchase a game key online but I don't condone that practice and will not explain it further.
Buddy keys are available through current players but that only gets you 10 days of game time before you have to purchase the game.
Because CD's get scratched, misplaced, excetera. I generally prefer digital media over physical for this reason.
For instance, along ago I owned Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. I moved, and lost the CD's for the game. Still have the box, no CD's.
If you decide to buy Shadows of Angmar in store for, what is it now, $10-$15?, once you enter in the product key to your turbine account, you can throw away the box and cds, you wont need them because you can just digitally download the game from Turbines support website... and your key will always be linked to your account, so you never have to enter in a key again.

I buy the original game 20$ in digital download (north america) a while ago but it was after the trial so all i had to do is upgrade the trial to a full version. I know they have suspend trial (North America) for now because of the expansion so it seem you cant buy only the original the game in digital version.
Anyway even if you are cheap (you have say that in your post not me) the original box version of the game is 20$ and the complete version is 29$ so maibe this you should consider to be less cheaper and buy the complete.
Here the link for you to see :www.ebgames.com/browse/search.aspx
Another thing you say you dont like box because you lose the cd but well i dont really understand you there because when you buy the game this is not for the dvd or the program itself but for the key to create an account. So even if you lose you dvd you can still find the game on the net so that no big deal.

I wish I could say how many times I have played through Jedi Academy. But the number is beyond counting. Haha.

huh why he would want EU version? If im not mistaken he is from U.S so their is no point to buy the EU unless he has friend or a guild on EU server.

What about when your computer dies? I always buy the box version, and I've managed to keep all of my CDs. What bothers me is the CD keys on manuals, CD cases, Boxes, etc. Just put the key on the god damned DISC!
