I found this in a post about the roll back effort being made by the honest players left in AOC. This is just a glimpse inside the mind of an exploiter and may well point to Funcom putting itself in this position.

It took at least that much time. I remember logging onto my account after work and chatting with guildmates that had been hard are work Fight Clubbing, Dancing, RPing, whatever you want to call it (PvPing with the glitch)for several hours and were just barely making it level 2. As I said I did not participate because like most adults I have a job to attend to, thus my power leveling, Raiding, HardCore PvPing is done on my weekends. I figured since the Game Masters (Remember them FC? Yes I am addressing you that represent this Company) had given our Guild Master, and various other players a "green" light on doing this that it would be around during my weekend.

That being said I fully expected that FC would at some point address this glitch as they have other glitches in the past (Gem Stacking, Gem dupping, ect.). I did not however expect the incredibly foolish firestorm that was started by a few players QQing, fanned by some misguided employees of FC adding legitimancy, and now exploding throughout these Forums. Note I am still calling it a glitch. Why because that is what it is. It is an aspect of game play that Funcom knowing enacted with out fully realizing or understanding its implications or ramifications to game play. This is not that different from people, who's names will not be mentioned by me, that still knowing use the glitches that allow your toon to scale walls near edges during sieges, or that use the ToS's ability to puppet siege engines. All of these are glitches ((exploits to the QQers out there)) and need to be addressed. The dramatic way in which FC representatives have allowed this issue to explode is very, very sad and does not present any kind of good image for this company.

Rolling back PvP points is not the answer. Nothing like this was done when FC finally addressed the dupping exploit, nor was anything this drastic done when FC addressed the gem stacking issue. What should be done is what FC has established as there S.O.P. (( Standard Operation Procedure for those that don't know this abbreviation)). Simply correct the flaw, advise all players that this glitch has now been deemed a exploit, and simply apologize for the inconveince it may have caused the over all gaming community. Lastly I would suggest that FC reconcider who they have working on their test severs since this glitch was a relativly simple one to figure out when compared to all the others they've missed.

In the end Funcom your repersentatives on this and many other Forums have placed your company in a bad place. Instead of actually researching this issue ((no one in my guild that is level PvP 5 has been offically contacted since they were originally told this glitch was ok)) further your representatives made inflamitory remarks such as "The Exploiters wiil be dealt with.." I mean really? Is this the best training for diplomancy your company can offer?

Also why are the threads with unvarified acusations remaining on? Is this not a violation of the Forums threatening, harassing, name calling rules?

Cimmeria has a lot of good PVP players. So if you are one of 'those' that managed to finally reach lvl 4 or 5, post a screenshot here. OR if you have seen somebody in passing, take a screenshot and post it here so we can compliment these people. It would be good idea to write down what guild they belong to so we know who to give our respects to.

Oh and Melkorus before you fall from your high horse there... lets not forget the hours of time your SnowHawks spend camping the entrance to Kesh ((I do believe that is why we now have a shield of risen for zoning?)) or the hours your guild spends Pad camping in the Oasis?

I mean really?? Anyone that can't see the sarcasim and venom dripping from this post is not just foolish but.. well I would rather not sink to Melkorus's level.

The main point is that this glitch, exploit, whatever you wish to call it happened. It was reported by everyone. People that used it, people that watched it being used, and people that didn't even care. It was reported, reviewed by FC representatives and then given the ok. Yes.. let me repeat this.. FC reps said that this was not, repeat not an exploit and ok to use. Now fast foward a few QQing threads and poorly crafted FC responses and we have this. The worst possible PR issue Funcom could dream of. I say FC should follow their established S.O.P. Apologize, correct, and examine so that it doesn't happen again. Anything other than that, and not only will Funcom lose hundreds of accounts from actual adults ((you know the Mature players this game was designed for?)) but with the obvious server populations drop might be forced to accept more losses from people not wanting to play a game that has no population. Oh yeah.. and unlike the kids us adults actually do take time to write to the various magazines (( PC Gaming, Xbox, Massive Online Gamer, ect.)) with our comments and complaints about games.

This glitch sad as it may be is really not the problem. The problem as I see it now is how FC reps have decided to act. If this is how the New Game Director is going to manage this game.. then I don't see a bright future for us. Which is sad. This is the best game I've played so far. I could never go back to WoW... three button tanking and two button nuking just would not satisfy anymore. Oh well at least I've got my Xbox and Motorcycles. I sincerely hope that FC will do what is right for the gaming community as a whole, and not just what a small minority of QQers want done. As for Yakamo's comment of "we will do what a majority of you have asked." I would love for this FC rep to post where these numbers lie. Most of the post I've seen complaining about this have been from the same few players on different threads. I know I have not seen any polling forum or place to vote on this subject so I would love to see proof of this majority. Perhaps if Yakamo can not produce this mayhaps another rep can? Please... let reason win out here.

So basically he exploited to get what he has, and is complaining that they are going to take what he got from exploiting away? Sounds fair, and he sounds like a little baby.

Yes but whats interesting is the claim the GM's told them it wasnt an exploit. I do seem to recall seeing some posts to this effect after patch 2.0. I dont have the time right now to go and search them out.

The whole thing is just a fiasco at this point.

It doesnt really help that maybe a gm sayd something like this , but for the love of god , if these players had played any mmo game at all before , they would understand this was a exploit , no matter what the GM sayd.

that excuse just doesnt cut it , they tought they would get away with it , but now it seems they maybe wont after all.

and for all that dont know what the exploit was , it was that you got double xp for murderers as it should be , but the problem was that you didnt get diminishing xp, so one could kill eachother for insane amounts of pvp xp , if you dont think it should be understandable by players that this was a exploit i am amazed , everything else has diminishing xp.. ofcourse it seems natural that this was the intended behaviour ..yah sure.

Oh no I agree, exploiting is exploiting. Im not saying they should be off the hook. Im questioning the quality of moderation and support in the game, thats all.

Every game I think i've ever played for more than a month has an instance where a GM will say something wrong. As much as exploiters like to rally around it, they have to remember that GMs are basically minimum wage employees who in many cases don't play the game, they just go by a database of questions.

This post is the same as if you want to prison.. everyone there is innocent too.

Well its funny how people use the exploit then complain when they get punished.

The fact is GM's made an error and there was screenshots were they say its not an exploit, however Funcom's Zero tolerance towards exploiters clearly state: if its to good to be true its an exploit.

Most of the GMs are people who don't get payed but have a free account. They are wrong sometimes.

Everybody knew that this was wrong from the beginning. A guildie gave the suggestion that my guild should use this too, I put him down fast.

It is always wrong to cheat in a MMO and people doing it should at least loose their benefit from it, minimum. I would say that if SIL isn't doing anything about it then AoCs survivevability goes down a lot. You really think Blizzard, SOE or Mythic would let you away with this? No.

Don't release a game that needs 12 more months of work, it makes a mess when you try to develop it live.
