Hey to anyone who reads this and thanks for taking the time to do so, it may be a long post as i tend to keep going once started but i'll try to be brief.
I bought Vanguard a long time ago, back when i left SWG (4-6 months after NGE), i bought it cause the game sounded good and a lot of guild mates were migrating to it, not sure if they still play it though.. anyways, i have been wondering what game to resub to without buying a new one.. Vanguard or Lotro were my picks of which to choose from. I was wondering if CURRENT players could give me some answers to a few questions i have, if you guys/gals don't mind... For the sake of the current communities reputation please keep it clean and on topic.
Bare in mind one thing please, i played the game for a week after purchase and didn't find any bugs, the thing that made me quit was the constant ganking/griefing in the new player areas. (can't remember what they were called but server i played on was one of the faction v faction ones, not FFA)
1. Is ganking or griefing still around today?
2. whats the populations like? (i'm UK based btw so if they have em i'll likely be going onto an EU server)
3. What are the server options these days? (last i heard there were merges between the FvF and FFA to just FFA)
4. I'm not big on PvP unless i feel in the mood, what options or restrictions are there to help the new players/low levels to actually be able to do something? (ties in with question 1 and 3 really)
5. I enjoy crafting, is it still a good crafting system where you have to do somethng other than just gather and click create?
6. Whats the communities maturity like? (by this i mean will i find leet all over the place instead of decent english)
7. If needs be i'll go to a RP server (if they still exist) as like i said before i prefer PvE to PvP but would like to PvP on the odd occasions. Whats the restrictions to RP these days as i'm not much of a role player in chat?
I apologise for it being a long post and appreciate you reading it all before posting. While people reply to this post (if any do) i'll be reading up on the official website and check back on a daily basis.
Thanks again for reading and posting.

Ethion
Cheers Ethion, i appreciate your response and time taken to help.
Some corrections, there is ONE PvP server, and unfortunatley it's population is so low at times I can count more digits on my appendages. Which sucks, don't get me wrong, I think VG is a great game, especially after all the memory leak fixes, it is by far one of the most purdy MMO's out atm with settings full blast.
I still play on Sartok, and I invite you to check out the PvP server of Sartok too! You may find you enjoy it, even with the low pop. There is occasionally some alter camping that still goes on, but if you mean in general RPK'ing, well, unfortunatley there isnt really enough pop for that, heh.......most of teh as$-hats that get their kicks off of greifing and what not have (I am sure) run off a potential new addition to the population, but mostly it stays within the old dawgs, I.E. the die hards that still have a presence, and raid APW, or have old grudges they care to keep going with those still present.
The crafting is great.....it has depth, I am sure some folks could pick apart whatever they wanted about that statement, but, if crafting is your bag, there is a LOT you can immerse yourself in with VG crafting.
SOE is going to implement a character copy option to the much larger PvE population soon so maybe the PvP server will pick up in population some. (let's not side track on the possible abuse or "whatever" your beef may be with this idea VG players, heh)
Besides dueling on the PvE servers, your only option for actual PvP is Sartok, and they have stated (SOE) on multiple occasions that they are not paying much if any attention to this server moving forward, besides the mentioned copy option that is forthcoming.
Maturity of the community, I think you will neither be pleased nor dis pleased......you will find alot of hardcore gamers that still play VG because it has depth, and is or can be a fun game. You most deffinetly will not find the same majority of immaturity you will find in WoW.
Server options, heh......ummm yah you have a choice of 4 servers, one is PvP, the others are not......lol
Sry I was a bit out of order from your list =P
EDIT - Oh and most of what Ethion said otherwise was right on par =P Funny though, take a look at how they rank the language for the 4 servers here vgplayers.station.sony.com/servers.vm
