Maybe that is meant to be 7 million? but i guess this game does not have WoW attached to the name so we cant count the Asian Market for this game that is only allowed for WoW

It 17 million accounts have been opened, obviously not 17 million subscribers. Probably guessing around 1 million subscribers world-wide now.

Well try a different source? You do realize NcSoft tells how many subscribers they have each quarter in their IR reports for each game. I doubt they would want to lie about it and then it show up on their IR Reports.

alright i checked another site http://www.joystiq.com/2006/04/19/mmo-subscriber-charts-show-whats-hot/

and they have L2's peak at 3.25 million subs, so i guess the 17 million subscribers meant accounts created.

NCSoft publishes its subs.

I posted a Quartery report here somewhere in the last year.

Last I saw L2 had under 1 million subs worldwide. (it was in the 900k range) and that number is straight from NC, no third parties.  I think that 17 mil number is like the total accounts ever made which NC tried to use in an ad campaign a few years ago.

 You gotta dig for it but they do put out quartery reports. I forgot where I use to get them.

you can get the NC Soft quarterly reports at the NC Soft website.

On that data, make sure you read www.mmogchart.com/analysis-and-conclusions/ as it shows how different companies gather/report their data.  NCSOFT, including Lineage2, represents their data as monthly access... as in how many players logged in at least once that month.   I believe WoW is how many accounts are active... which I believe in places like China, all accounts are active, as they are pay as you play (I believe).

 

So, in actuality, the data does not represent an apples to apples comparison.
