Yeah that could work in the rights hands. The problem is, there is no company out there that can accomplish this task. Maybe if you can take the pre-cu SWG devs, Curt Schilling's MMO team and Blizzards money, then you have a chance to get it done right.

Add to what "Zunarn" said about 3/5 years of tech to be more evolved and we might see something like OP wishes. For now I don't see tech cappeble to develop/Produce such a MMORPG, the movie is tried in differernt games and as far I know they all failed, I mean if they can't even develop a single player game with today's tech let alone they are able to produce a MMORPG with today's tech.
It would make a nice MMORPG...absolutely, just not now with current tech used.
Game #2 - Some crappy rpg sideplot post-nge bollocks.

I agree. It's one of the few existing Intellectual Properties that seems like it would translate well into an MMORPG. You could play The Terminator side, or the Human side.
I don't see how Star Trek is going to translate into and interesting MMO.

I'd disagree with both statements -- If the terminator series became an mmorpg, I feel like SkyNet would turn into LotrO monsterplay rather than be present as an actual playable "race". How much differentiation would there be in the terminators after all?
As for Star Trek, I think they opportunity is nearly limitless in what they can do so far as creating a universe that people can live in. Giving it constant drama? Tougher, for sure but I think the bigger challenge would be managing scope creep. I.e., get enough working right from the beginning and expand rather than implement a lot in a half-assed fashion.
"How much differentiation would there be in the terminators after all?"
I would imagine, as the Terminators are machines, you could customize your "cybernetic" abilities for tons of options (ie - firepower, speed, strength, etc)
And not all "terminators" would start out brute force unstoppable as they would have to level up to gain abilites/enhancements.
I believe they (the terminators) should have the upperhand (kind of like in swg, the imps' had the ATSTS at first), but give the humans plenty of firepower to use. Just wouldn't give the humans "melee" abilites since they obviously shouldn't be able to win in a hand to robot hand combat fight.

That still pretty much comes across as mosnterplay rather than genuine customization of a character...but that's just my opinion.
Just wanted to add that it would be cool that for every human u kill, you get to wear some bones as "clothing trophies" kinda like with Predator. And of course with the humans, you could wear a cool t-1000 hand or whatever around ur neck to look uber.

There could be lots of 'scenarios' to explore via time travel. So, you could fight with different weapons, different sets/environments, and go through various portions of the Terminator lore/timelines.
I mean, I'm not saying it would be great, but it could happen and would have some potential.

Fight Me! http://zunarn.mybrute.com
The only way it would live up to the franchise is if James Cameron got into the MMORPG market and did the game himself.
But.... Terminators are OP.
I would rather see Aliens Vs Predator.

Yeah this would stink of 2 games syndrome.
Game #1 - The game you want. Epic RvR.

I agree. AvP i think would make a better MMO then Terminator.
Use a system like DAoC. Three realms, Aliens, Predators, or Humans. And put in a bunch of arena like objectives the three fight over.

Star trek will be mostly pve and exploration...

Almost any succesful movie, comic, book among teenagers can be a great MMO, what is the point of naming each one of them.

Wow, how insightful. Just like any topic can be argued amongst teenagers, what is the point in arguing semantics?
A Terminator MMO could be really cool.
