I mean, come on, as far as AoC bashing goes this is pretty damn mild. What I was doing was using this as a cautionary tale. And there was a point to my necroing it. Remember how insanely excited people were about AoC? I thought that that old thread represented it well. All I was doing with it was reminding people how crazy it was as a way of reminding people not to get so caught up in the hype for the next game they start following.
But whatever. Anyway whoever banned me apparantly screwed up because I've been posting today regardless of the ban. But now that the guy has had some practice maybe this thread will give him the incentive to try again.
Geez, with all the bashing and trashing and hating and name calling going on, which I have carefull stayed out of for the most part, the staff here gets a stick up their arse over what I did? They must have a screwy sense of priorities

Discussing your ban in the forums is also a bannable offense.
You do not understand why you were banned for this? First it was very direspectful, and second what did you add to the post, you could have summed it all up in one word at the end.. and just said lies. This is a forum for expressing opinions yes.... but you should really add something to the post or at least communicate something. I personally feel that your ban may have been a bit heavy handed.... but I can understand why it was done.

Hmm, well actually that clears one thing up for me. I wondered if maybe the mod was singling me out because I was long time critic of the game pre-release. But I guess that's not the case.

Disrespectful to the fanboi that wrote the review, not to the OP. It can also read as discussing, since the review is one sided. Second, I did add things to the orginal post and to the end, you ever saw people posting 5 post with one words replys? nope, not ban.

Hey, I'm just trying to help out the mod who tried to ban me by giving him another excuse. Seeing as how his first attempt didn't work.
Honestly, with all the flame wars and crap that goes on on the various forums on this site this is a pretty goofy thing to issue a ban for. I don't usually resort to peronal insults at least and anybody who wants to check my post history can go through every damn post I've ever made on these boards and I promise you'll find very, very few personal attacks coming from me. And the few I have done were only after a lot of provocation.
If they are going to start going wild with bans their first priority should be to ban people who resort to personal insults as a way of "making their point".
And if we can't talk about the policies of this site then maybe I want to get banned. I'm sure I can find some other gaming site to waste my time on.

Be cool guys.. I got a few warnings myself and you wouldn't believe what wonders a polite reply to the moderator in question can do. In all the cases but one I got my warnings rescinded with smilies all over the place. In that one other post I myself felt I did kinda step over the line so I kept my peace - what's fair is fair.
As forums go mmorpg is quite liberal. Just reply to the mod what your intention was and everything's cool. I was warned for using a single emote for a reply and I pointed out to the moderator how it constitutes a meaningful response to the above post. Smilies, cheerios and apologizes.
If the ressurected thread had in it an implication that it will get ressed at one time in the future then there is no reason for it to be banned. An example would be if I made a poll about the next big MMO and stated in the thread that I'll res it in one year to see who got it right. Mods usually have a lot of work to do and they tend to scan posts for obvious offenses - and needlessly ressing an inactive thread is one of those. Just point out to the mod what was your intention and how it makes your post valid and you'll be fine.
No reason to make a fuss imo. I'm sure everything can be solved in a civilized manner without yelling "fire!" in general.
Far as I know, most forums have a policy against necroing posts. Ten months old is pretty old.
As said, discussing moderator activity is a no-no as well.
I've been here since 05 haven't been banned one time , Actually I have never been banned from any forum . And I'm not the most constructive poster on the block.I think a lot of it has to do with the tone you present ,Not necessarily what you write.

/Agree completely. I had same thing happen. If you send a PM, the MMORPG staff are quite nice actually. The ban I received that stuck I fully deserved.
EDIT: Lets get Malickiebloo a ban to wet his feet. You aren't cool unless you been banned baby!

If you mean Domenisi, he isn't a mod. He is a game correspondent.
Yes I did purposefully necro it from last year. But if you read what the guy said it was relevant to the current situation. He was talking about what high hopes he had for AoC. At the time there was no way to say whether he was hoping in vain or not.
Remember all the "wait and see when it releases" comments? Well, people waited. They saw. Reviving an old post about peoples' expectations IS relevant now that the game has been released. How could it not be?

Must be something in the air. I just got my first ever "warning" on another site for making a very bland observation. Wasn't directed at anyone and did not call any names or anything. So, just not sure what was up with that. I have never had that happen before in about 9 years of postings.

Is it about AoC? Maybe Failcom paid sites to keep an eye on the negative posts for their game. I think they should fix the troll/flame in their own site first tho if thats the case.
