Updates to the Game

I played World of Warcraft until about the time when battlegrounds were introduced to the game. I had a female rogue night elf on the Laughing Skull server and I was wondering what they introduced into the game after battlegrounds. Anything major ... and I was wondering if my character is still there, or if they deleted her. I'm thinking about coming back after they release the second expansion pack, but I'm not sure..... I much more prefer sandbox style gameplay but since there's really none of that left in MMORPGs this game probably does offer the best in linear role-playing. As well, I just loved playing as a rogue ... it's so awesome to cap some Horde bitches when they least suspect.

Thanks in advance.

they've added a whole lot, but you'll need to buy the expansion to get to most of it.  and yes, your rogue is still there.

In case you did not said Blizzard that you will use your account for further play , it gets deleted after 6 months. My personal advice will be to wait for the expansion or just gain your character to 70 and then wait.At the moment its not good time to start over.

Well they've added in Arenas (whether people think its a good or bad thing is up to them), and of course flying mounts with the first Exp. With a recent patch they lowered the req. level to get mounts to 30.

And I remember reading that as long as your character is above 50, they wont delete them.

And yeah there isnt any sandboxxed mmos out simply because many saw how WoW did and figure copying was better than original content, though hopefully WAR is alot better in what it promises.

If you are looking for a Sandbox MMO though, there is darkfall i believe (no clue what is happening with that game) and Earthrise. The latter of the two I'm following closely, though its a post-apocolyptic scifi mmo, so not sure if thats your cup of tea.

I dont think they delete after 6 months because when I quit  3 months ago it stated at any time I decide to come back my character will be always be there, they do not delete characters.

Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

My character was at level 58 or 59.....

Hmm ... one reason why I want to join after the expansion pack comes out is because of the talent tree changes. Before I was speced pretty evenly 1/3 assassination, 1/3 combat, and 1/3 stealth, but I really like this new talent tree I think I will spec mostly combat in it.

Can somebody just give me a list of new features they added in after battlegrounds? The responses so far aren't bad, I'm just looking for some more detail in the changes they put into the game.

Pre-TBC patches here (you'll most likely want to start from here)

    Post TBC patches here.

    Cheers~

    Not true.

My girlfriend's account hasn't been active for 1.5 years still have the characters intact (they're not even level 70).

I've just checked this by logging in into her account a couple of minutes ago and attempted to do character copy to PTR to get the list of the character.
