WoW Rant

Now i played WoW for a while and managed to eek out the meagar existance that is the entire game. I finally realized that, well frankly the game sucked. The endless hours of fighting with people to grind for loot and expirience. The game itself is well concieved i suppose but still it is just lacking any deoth or complexity or maturity. Which brings me to the point of the WoW community, which if their claims are to be believed are  a bunch of Magnum packing masters of videogaming and the entire universe. But at the same time none of them can apparently even get a date or probably talk to a girl in RL as they sit around Gold Shire begging the female toons (probably men in RL) to take their clothes off and send nude pictures to [email protected]................... This is my friends a tragedy, a game that is so populated by people who have so little sense of maturity or anything that makes sense in some cases. I was told toward the end of my career to try the hord as they had much more mature players. This was marginally true but it was just that marginally so. The game itself was not all that pretty. The mobs were all so repetitive and alot of the time i was thinking if Blizzard is so succesful why cant they make some variation in their creatures. I remember Molten Core... The bosses were just big regular mobs with some color change. Can you type /sigh? The crafting in this game sucks so hardcore it almost brought a tear to my eye. Grind for stuff and then make stuff that is more often than not useless and if it is usefull it is so commonplace and blah that the market for it is just terrible. The wow economy is aweful as well, probably due in large part to the bunch of pre-pubescent lads that run it. The economy that does exist is silly and the auctionhouse is the saddest most pathetic joke i have ever layed eyes on. WoW sucks period. Find a better game to play is all i can say to all of you who play it.

And cue the backlash...

I have played a few MMO's in my time and have finally decided that short of going back to the good old days
    Being what?
, I need a knew game with some depth and maturity to it.
You being so mature and all...
My most recent MMO venture was WOW My biggest mistake ever lol. It was fun for quite some time but a couple of months ago i suddenly came to the realization that i hated it and everything it was:
    Not too quick are you?
The immaturity of virtualy the entire playerbase, the completely sensless grinding that just plain sucked (took me till 70 to realize that )
Again, not too quick are you?
, and the fact that the crafting in that game is at times so meaningless and silly its kinda frightening. Anyways enough of my ranting, i simply had to prove a point i guess.
Actually you haven't proved a dang thing yet except that you can rant.
Now i have been searching and looking for about four days now and am torn on what to do or which game to choose. Now on the one hand you've got a game like EVE. A sandbox with lots of depth and so much to explore and discover. Intruiging? Yes, but i have also learned that this game can be a bit time intensive and daunting; taking months of play just to really get into...
Hmmm...so not really any better than any other game out there including the one it just took you a few months to figure out sucked.  Well at least you figured out you don't like EvE after a few days of just looking at it and it didn't take you a couple months of playing to figure out, so you're better off I reckon.
This worries me as i will be working and going to college full time this fall semester. On the other hand there are things like AoC that look intruiging for an obivuosly adult based content set and from what i have seen at my friends house mature players and interesting classes etc. But here again we have lost some of the crafting and the sandbox aspect.
Hmmmm....game number 2 shot down without ever playing a minute of it.  Wonder why it took you months of playing WoW to figure out it sucked?
I could go on to things like Lotro, EQ2, etc., but the main point being that i need something that i can play at a leisurly pace while still mainting a mature deep level of gameplay. Any recommendations?
Because I've been looking for 4 days now and I'm fresh out of ideas...

As soon as anyone posts that the WoW community is so immature I dont even bother wasting my time reading what they have to say because apparently they have never played MMO's.

EVERY single MMO has these immature people in their community you just see it more in WoW do to so many people playing it. Use some common sense people it gets so old hearing its WoW's immature communities fault for everything.

Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

As the WoW players would say...

Wall of text crits you for 124098510230192.

    You die.

    --------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Utter...fail.  The WoW community is one of the worst I've ever experienced.  Last night I logged in (first time in 3 weeks) to find someone in IF yelling (/yell) "will give you secks!" within 5 seconds of being logged in.  I promptly rolled me eyes, logged out, and played something else.  Trade channel in the faction cities is utterly useless.  People begging you for gold, blindly inviting you to guilds (if you aren't in one), being asses in regional channels when people ask for help "Where's mob X?"  "Look it up on thott you n00b", pugs rolling need on crap they can't even use, node stealing, etc

The list is almost endless.  In general the game is indeed populated of selfish children.  There is some truth in the OP no matter how many times it's denied...the reality is there.

Sadly, WoW is the best game out there right now, at least until Warhammer Online is released.

WoW = Waiting on Warhammer. As soon as the open beta starts, my WoW account is going in the freezer.

Once you go go whack, you'll never go back.

What is this "whack", you say? Check out the links!

WoWs terrible community is the stuff of legends, everyone says "WoW brought lots of people to the genre" Yeah well, shit draws flies now doesnt it.

The funniest part of all this is, all of you bitching about how immature the community is; was or is part of that community as well so you are also just as immature since you base everything with the word community. That places everyone in the exact same box.

Its time to come up with something better than community, plain and simple.

    honestly.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I found the crafting, mobs, gameplay, and storyline to be incredibly shallow.

i'd recommend Everquest 2 to you above anything else. it is incredibly deep and with the 20 or so races and the 24 (i think) classes it has something for every play style. casual and hardcore alike. if your interested ive got 2 month trial invites i can hand out. its the only mmo i find myself constantly coming back to.

eve i found to be incredibly deep as well but some things i just did not find fun and appealing. i loved it but the combat and travel times turned me away. reminded me of a rts in alot of respects while playing it.  i felt less in control of what i was doing and more like i was watching and sending orders like a general.

Asheron's call i also found to be incredibly deep. its probably the most detailed and engrossing mmo out. period. but the years and graphics and lack of players have turned me away. its also more of a hardcore game and less casual.

24 classes excuse is horrible... i'd rather have a Warrior class that can choose to tank or dps... than have to choose a class that is a pure tank.

Most classes in WoW mix multiple classes together (which to me is better because it allows one class to have moreoptions than most games) and half the classes in eq2 are just good/evil remakes (with minor differences)

... the only thing EQ2 has WoW doesn't is ... voiceovered quests (its still kill x of this)

Its just another 14 year old troll who is trying to justify his time spendature into the game and become burnt out. Don't feed him, just accept the fact he has no self-control and blames it on the game, and is therefore not worth bitching over.

As seen in one of the sigs nearby, if you enjoy the game, which the vast majority of MMO players do, then there isn't a problem.

These is a very vocal extreme minority you are writing about. Learning to use the ignore feature will solve most of your woes.
