Forums look fine to me only 1-2 people seem to be upset with the latest patch and they did add alot of new stuff into the game. This game gets better almost every week.

  • fiontarfiontar Member UncommonPosts: 3,682

If the game had launched with all the current patches in place, the exodus from the game would have been even more pronounced over the last two months.

Pretty good sign things aren't going well, when after two months of patches the game is notably worse than it was at launch.

Not just bad design decisions, but stability, lag spikes, etc... are worse now. Some people now also experiencing severe "rubber banding" in some zones.

It is amusing, in a sick sort of way.

I'm assuming that's subtle sarcasm. Or maybe it's a "sponsored" forum post? (I wouldn't write a positive piece on the game no matter how much they offered me)!

I quoted this one but wished i could have quoted the the directly proceeding this one! This is a DIRECT discrepancy between the outlook of the game as seen through the eyes of fontar and Protius-AOC. Anyone notice this..i thought it quite humorous.

Next question would be is this as bad as the NGE without ever having something better than a NGE? That may be a record

The head of Funcom calls LotRO and WoW McDonald's and AoC a fine steak. That'll give you an idea of how in touch with reality he is...

    --------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Please try to keep the spam down. We are in full force moderation mode and we will be keeping the threads tight so we can continue to highlight the constructive feedback on the update. That way we can convey to the developers on the current update.

As if reading the forums doesnt answer those questions?

If they spent half as much time or "man hours" investing into bettering their game as they did moderating and playing "damage control" on forums, they may actually make fair progress on the game.  As unpopular as it may be to some, I almost think it would be in their better interest to shut down their forums for a month and dedicate full man power to the game itself.  Not like they need the forum to know what is wrong with the game at this point.  They have more than enough problems reported to kep them busy more than that month.  Without the full effort tho, their destructive cycle will continue.

I'm gonna venture a guess and say that the forum moderators aren't developers...

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
    Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
    Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
    Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

I'm all for improving the game, it has issues that need to be worked out, but I would like to point out that the people who actually do the developing on the game are different from the people doing moderation on their forums. Shutting down the forums wouldn't shift any manpower over to development.

You know the end is near when Protus jumps ship and goes to WOW...

    Who will defend Funcom now?

Gonna quote Stradden, but the reply applies to the poster prior also.  :)

Uhm, yeah I know the moderators are not developers, and that they would not be moved to any Developer tasks.  That is not what I was intending to say.  I apologize for not being clear.  While the modertors are not the ones "Fixing" the game (and I DO believe they are fixing it, as poor of a job as they are doing at it) the moderators are doing damage to the game.  Due to a lack of proper communication and dialogue within the company an its external facilitators, the game is getting more and more of a negative rap sheet.  Then those who ARE the developers are having to play damage control, take time out and correct issues they should not have to, blah blah.  In the end, the forums are doing them more harm than they are good (My opinion, you do not have to agree.)

All of that aside, they have put company assets behind a forum.  Whether it be hosting webspace, or having paid moderation along side the volunteers, it is company assets.  People have used the argument that the game was rushed out due to financial reasons (No one has proof of it, bu it is one of the many unfounded arguments people have raised against the company) As Funcm is being rather closedabout things, it is more in their interest to keep speculation and negativity to a minimum.  Again, this would be facilitated by them focusing all of their assets (Financial, Time, even mental energy) toward the game and major tasks at hand that are CRITICAL, rather than dealing with trivilitie of flame wars and poor communicaions that tear down their game.  Thus the statement that they should focus all of their man power on the game.  That make more sense than my original post?  :)

Their game has potential but the company behind it is just terrible.  It can't be inexperience since they did launch AO and managed to keep it alive all this time.  Is it just pure incompetence?

The 9 page thread of people saying they canceled was deleted for no reason but to cover up the number of people that posted. I think it was 170 posts with the majority saying they canceled or were about to if a miracle patch does not show up in a few weeks.

They kept AO alive..  but it suffered drastically.  This is all deja-vu to me.

Bugs and server stability aside, its the lack of planning of the basic core gameplay which shows they are indeed incompetent.

I hear AoC is not designed well in this respect, and I know AO certainly was not.

Protus... I can't believe it. You are not playing AoC? I thought that it was the greatest game ever? What happened, man?
