DUde Kunou wants to buy 2 copies he can do it. I am going to buy 2 copies too. EQ2 looks like the game that most of the gamers around the world have been waiting for. WoW looks like a good game but too cartoony for me really. As years pass technology advances games evolve and EQ2 is the next lvl of MMORPG period. I cant wait till its out.

thats not always true graphics wise... like I really the FF tactics graphics... and ragarok looks good to... WOW is good but instead of taking the realistic attack to good graphics it goes more fantasy.... lol... you might be able to tell I am a WOW fanboy, but I am very open to EQ2... I dont really want to take to much of sides till both games come out because both have been getting very good beta reports.... the guys over at gamespot.com are going crazy over WOW... I havent seen to much EQ2 reports but the ones I did see are very positive...

Edit- I dont think any special edtion things are worth it but thats just me... the only thing cool about the is the shiny box... oooo shiny....

Why did you buy two copies? Doesnt EQ2 allow you to have more then one char per server? If not thats lame =(

I'm hoping to convert my wife into a gamer. It prolly won't work, if not oh well, I'm thinking of playing two accounts, I have 2 computers that'll be able to run it decently. And no, not buff-botting, mainly for crafting, levelling up 2 different crafters together, I love crafting. But hopefully I'll be able to convert the wife and that won't even be an option.

Well I don't consider it a waste to be able to do things with our kids that they enjoy and we enjoy. We have the best time together, have great communication and being able to say that these days is a pretty great accomplishment and a great investment.

I hope your wife decides to play...and finds she likes it. It took my hubby and kids about 6 years to get me to play and now 2 years later I enjoy it very much, and love the time we all spend together.  EQ2 might be the one that will help with her wanting to play.

Well the main problem is she's not a gamer at all really, not just mmorpgs, she doesn't play video games much at all. About the closest she comes is the web games at places like popcap and yahoo occasionally. But who knows, my boys are still too young to get into games really, but I'm sure I'll be able to get them hooked easy enough ina couple years. ;)

    To the original poster:

Basicly you are complaining about things that every MMO has....the daily grind. That itself is a big part of all MMO's and if you do not like that then you should go play diablo. Hell, if i didnt like driving a car I'd ride a bike but what I wouldnt do is go around bitching at all the people that are in a car....which is basicly what you are doing here.

Well just think you usually pay 40-50$ for a brand new hot off the press new release. 90% for a collectors edition that has 10 DVD's, a cloth map, in game bonus's and whatever else it has like a fancy manual maybe or something it is not too bad.

Ill be reserving a copy tommorrow and picking up the characetr creation disk. I just hate how 3 years ago you couldnt preorder a game until like a copuple of weeks before the game came out. Now in 2004 you can preorder the game like 6 months in advance. Its getting ridiculous. Plus all these marketing stuff like incentives etc for preordering its even more ridiculous.

I aint ocmplaining though but things change in times.

Well i guess the bottom line is if you want this items then buy the CE.

However,i see a pattern developing that in a few years time we will paying the companies real cash for ingame stuff. Not that the Jboots is the first to do it.

I recall UO charging people money for pre levelled(skills) characters a few years ago.

well your not really paying the company for that stuff... Because it doesnt belong to you and the companies know that. You are just renting everything you have in the game from the developers. If you owned everything in the game than you could hack and if they banned you you could sue. The Jboots are more of a gift to you for buying all the extra stuff iin the box.

My guess on the price for all the items

    Usuall CD = 12$

    Collectors coin = 15$

    2 Posters = 10$

    The game = 50$

    DVD = 10$

    Cloth map = 5$

    Art book = 10$

    Total = 112$

I thinks its a pretty good deal.

Of course or it would be a waste of time with this game....although my daughters compute is having some problems....which will be fixed in the next couple days, we all have computers that are at least a step or two above the requirements for the game. I do a lot of computer work with graphics so my computer is very well suited for it. My husband just has to have a top of the stack computer so he gets a new one yearly or so.

One hint tho....everyone in the family are over 18..except our new little mascot for our guild, she is 3 weeks old...lol.....have jobs and computers and gaming are their hobby.

There is a actually no computer available that can handle the full settings on the game... Its made so that it can grow when new hardware comes out... So there is no way to work the game on maxsettings yet.

    From the EQ2 Forums-

What components should I use to build the "perfect" EQII machine?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The simple answer is to use the best components you can afford. Keep in mind that we've designed our game with the future in mind. It will take CPUs and video cards that aren't on the market yet to be able to play our game with all options cranked up to full. The idea is that as computers get faster and faster, our game will look better and better without needing an engine overhaul.

Can we say MMOG addicted? Hmmm?

I can think of FAR worse things for a family to do together in this day and age. One of the biggest ones that most families seem to do together these days: NOTHING. And as far as I'm concerned, playing MMORPGs as a family is a helluva lot healthier and builds better family values than doing nothing together.

I see you all speaking as if we are paying for our jboots....

Now correct me if im wrong * which im not :)* but the Jboots come with the pre-registration...its a gift that comes along with the character creation cd's. I know because I have the cd's and box sitting in front of me.

Now im not sure if the jboots come along with the collectors edition but I can assure you even if they do that isnt the reason it is so expensive. It has basicly a dvd collection inside along with figurines,  cloth map, and from what I hear, quite a bit more. I seriously doubt that jacked the price up for some watered down Jboots....

The real issue though really isnt even why exactly it is $90 but why would a person come on here whining about the price. Do you hear me whining about why a corvette is so high? no..... bottom line is, if you dont want it ...DONT BUY IT....hell, im not buying it but you don't see me on the floor kicking and screaming.

If you were too lazy to read my whole post, SOE said they have high PC specs so when techonology becomes more advanced you can keep making the game look better over time.

Pff why would you want to make the game look better "Over Time"? I want it to look good NOW! By the time computers come to the point where EQ2 looks stunning and runs flawlessly theyll have EQ3 in production probabaly....

Ya, why would anyone want to buy "Hardware Expansions" just to make the same game look better, as well as buying Software expansions for new content. And if the game is scalable, then have them SHOW it. I mean, this is SOE, they arent known for the best products in the industry. If I dont see it, I prolly wont believe it. So far, I only believe the game will have immensly demanding graphics, and a file size and CD count that rivals most game TRILOGIES.
