Right,
I played WoW a few years back, back when it was just regular WoW, and MC was the best end game instance out there.
I loved this, but gradually got bored due to various reasons, more me needing something else to do rather the pc game...but that's besides the point.
basically, I need to know whether it's still fun?? I know it has millions of players etc, but would I just feel like the game had been ruined if I came back now?
I loved instances, mid levels were a blast, are there any more?
what happened to the level 60 instances like MC and BWL? do people still do them?
are there many more single bosses like onyxia?
what is the newest PvP game like? people still play Alterac valley, and what level does that start?

Impossible to answer you. Things have changed. For the good or the bad is up to you to decide. Many believe the game was best when you played it. Others have welcomed the changes and wouldn't go back for the world. If you really want to know, get someone to give you a scroll of resurrection. That will give you 10 days of time to come back and play for free. You be the judge. There's a pinned link at the top of this forum, dozens of people wanting to give away a scroll of ressurection, or send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send you one.

Ahhh ok.
thanks, but I think if I start it again I'd use a completely new guy, start up with some friends.
one more question, would I have to buy regular WoW AND Burning crusades?
or just BC

Hello!
theres no point in whatsoever to play wow if you dont have tbc also no one does instnaces anymore barely unless you got some rl freinds or whatever cause you get all your gear form pvp now so youl do nothing but pvp grind all day long all week and raiders keep to them self they log off and log on for raids and then theyr logged off till raid again game is pretty much fucked over big time also pvp gear is almoast as good the top raid gear so raiding has become pointless in some part except for the newest currently raid instances n sunwell also they maded daily quest so you can earn 200g per day so now gold is useless aswell except for 10g repair everytime you die and such people just put 10x the price on there stuff so making more money is useless except for mounts blabla everything is handed to you
Do you mean there's no point playing regular old WoW? I wasn't planning on doing so.
And no-one does mid range instances?
why not?

nah no one does instances anymore quite rare people just buy boosts from freinds so on and theres no point in doing instances at 70 as you can get top epic gear from just a few days of grind in pvp so thats all everyone ever does now on the game like 70% running around wit hthe exact same gear
Oh dear
I loved classics like Scarlet Monestry etc,
I wonder if I'd even enjoy it now. : (

Hello!
lol you wouldint they ruined the game so badly your lucky if youl even se people chat on general on some servers now its all about pvp grind now
Owwww,
doesn't anyone make PvE twinks?
looks like it's going to be Vanguard that I'm playing!

Hello!
It's fine, don't listen to him, sounds so bitter and twisted
If that's what happens on his server and the guild he's in then he needs to change it. At 70 instances are always being run... and most of them are great fun

I have to agree that instances (dungeons) seem pretty dead these days. I once logged on during a Saturday night and could not find anyone looking for or building a Kara group. Could be a few were already inside running Kara.
Fortunately, the game is still soloable from 1 to 70, but I think a lot of folks have capped already and are either in PVP or trying out Conan. I think when Warhammer releases, the PVP'ers will mostly stay bye-bye and WOW might have a serious population issue.
Still, it's a great game and something to play until the mythical "perfect" game comes along.
Listen guy,
On EU on prime time there are always 50 + servers on high and full status. So I don't know what you are talking about.
The daily dungeons mechanism are perfect to find groups in a minimum of time because everyone who likes to have badges is focused on doing these. I never have to wait more than a few minutes for these rotatting dungeons on a daily basis.
Karazahn is a RAID instance, so pick up groups in raids were always rare, But mostly there are about 5 or 6 pick up groups for Kara on each side each night on our server, but of course not when you log in at 11.00PM.
And the number of Wow people playing Conan is a laugh. So will be WAR when WotLK launches.
Ever heard of bombardment planes, sea invasions, fighting planes and full party manned tanks in War.? No? just tune in on the info websites for WotLK than before claiming something out of your wacky hat.
Listen yourself. On my server, on a weekend night, I can scan down all of the level 70 group areas and raids, and find very little Looking-for-Group or Looking-for-More activity. Therefore, my "opinion" is valid for my server.
While I do not like the Conan game, I acknowledge there was a perceptible drop when that game released. Conan's 700K box purchases, or whatever the number was, wasn't all folks who are new to MMORPG's. It has long been known that WOW is a popular stop-gap game for those waiting for a more suitable MMORPG to come out.
And if you think WOW won't take a hit among the PVP crowd when WAR comes out, perhaps you're the one wearing the "wacky hat". Unless WAR messes up in their implementation, WOW's PVP servers are going South when that game comes out. Why? Because PVP'ers like PVP-centric games.
As many have said, WOW is a PVE game with PVP tacked on. WAR is a PVP game primarily and that will be a draw. (I'm not a PVP player myself, but I see the writing on the wall.) WOW has been a good game, but it's four years old.

You can start a brand new character. You can pick a new server. You can do whatever you want. None of that changes with a scroll of resurrection. All the scroll does is reactivate your old account for 10 days free. You don't have to pay a dime. Not only that but it reactivates the account for BC so you can actually go in and see what the expansion is like without purchasing it. You can try the 2 new races. If you have an existing level 60 character, you can take him to Outlands and see what it's like. You can do the arena's and check out all the BG's and see what they are like. You have complete access to EVERYTHING.
The best thing for you to do is to try the game again for a couple days. In 10 days you can pretty much tell whether or not you are "into" it. If you are, then just pay the monthly fee to continue playing. If you haven't bought BC and want to play BC, then you'll have to purchase it at that time and you can do that online. Trust me, this will answer ALL your questions.
Some of the people here have agenda's and bones to pick with the game. You will NOT get a fair answer to your questions listening to them. Do yourself a favor and try it free for 10 days, then decide for yourself.
Now if you can't remember your account information you should be able to find that out from Blizzard. I think you just have to give them your e-mail address that you used to create the account and they'll send an e-mail to that address with the information. If you don't know the e-mail address than you can call Blizzard customer support and if you can answer some information, they'll give you the account information. There's no point in purchasing again what you have already paid for.
Thanks very much Pappy13,
everyone else can just get lost =p
All of your arguments are about as biased as it gets,
so there is no right answer.
Maybe it was my fault for asking the questions I did,
but WoW fanatics need to stop being absolute nerds and bumming out a game, and accept that people may not like WoW, and other games such as WAR will undoubtably sway players.
my email adress is [email protected]
pappy13,
although I may not end up using the scroll as I may find that my performance issues with Vanguard will be cleared up tomorrow.
Cheers.

Hello!
Scroll sent. Hope you enjoy the game.
thanks. If I don't use it within 30 days do you get to send it to another person or do you lose it altogether?
----------------
Hello!
I don't lose it no matter what. Here's what happens, when you use the scroll you'll get 10 days of free play time. After those 10 days are up, if you decide to pay for a month of WoW, then I will get a month of WoW for free and I get another scroll to send out. If you decide not to pay for WoW or not use the scroll, then nothing happens. After about 30 days, if you have not resubscribed then the scroll expires and I get a fresh one to send out if I want.
Every existing WoW player can have up to 5 active scrolls at once, I still have 4 left to send out, so it doesn't matter to me whether you use it or not. It's completely up to you. The only way I really benefit in any way is if you end up resubscribing. If you don't use it or don't resubscribe, eventually it will just fall off my account and I'll get another one that I can send to someone else. It's a great little program designed just for people like you who are considering coming back to the game. It's a way for you to try the game in it's full glory including the expansion for 10 days and see if you like it and would like to come back. It's a shame that more people don't know the program even exists.
One small thing I overlooked, I see you live in the UK. The scroll I sent can only be used on a North American account since that is what my account is. If your account is a EU account, then you'll need to get a scroll from someone with a EU account. Look at the threads in this forum, pinned at the top there is one called scroll of ressurection. That thread is for people to post that they have scrolls or would like one. You can either find someone who posted there that has a EU scroll and send them an e-mail or you could just post at the bottom for someone to send you one and you will get one. Sorry I didn't mention it before, I didn't think to check to see where you lived before I sent you one.
Ahh very nice
I thought it was like a buddy key type of thing.
I suppose they already give 10 days free to anyone, seems like a good system
----------------
Hello!
They have that too, but if you don't have an existing account, then you can only play the original game, not the expansion.
I'd listen to a "biased" player of a game way before I'd listen to an "employee in disguise" who violently defends the game. But sure, go ahead and try for yourself. I was just trying offer helpful advice.
There is a lot of truth in the fact that lower range instances (pre-bc) are very difficult to find a group for. The norm is to get a high lvl person to run you through one.
There is also truth in the fact that the new ways of WoW are trying to include everyone: if you love to pvp, pvp your heart out... or if you love to raid, raid your heart out... both methods get you end-game loot, and that loot is tailored to either pvp or pve (raiding).
While the days of forming parties for instances like gnomer and scarlet are a thing of the past, Blizz has helped things along by making it much easier to lvl past the first 60 levels, even going so far as allowing mounts 10 levels earlier.
I'm not playing now-a-days because at end-game, if your guild isn't raiding and you are sick to the teeth of dailies (lord help me if I EVER do a damn daily again), then (personally) I start wondering "what's the point?" Maybe new Battlegrounds or new areas to explore would pull me back in...
... anyway, to the original post, there's a cornucopia of raids now-a-days, many similar to Onyxia in that you are going in to fight a specific mob (Gruuls, Magtheridon, etc...), and dozens of end-game guilds trying to grind them. Simply put, modern end-game is much more varied than pre-bc endgame was.
The game is actually still fun, just join a click of people that have the same goals and your good to go. You basically pvp grind if you want fast epics, and you do instances if you want to pve more than pvp. Because if you get pvp gear now you will have a ton of hp, but dish out hardly any damage compared to a pve geared individual. Anyway the game is still fun, and its the best working game out there right now. AOC is good too, but you should wait on that untill everything gets patched (big problems anyway)
