Command Ships?

Is there a need for command ship pilots in the EVE universe? I like the sound of them and they look very versatile. If not what ships are in high demand? logistics? drednoughts? just wanna know how i should plan to be highly effective to a corp. I like being a career which is not popular but very important, especially in large battles or destroying of stations! I been playing for a while and have trained cruisers to get my omen and farm some money via salvaging, i know what i am doing, just looking for a long term plan. Thanks :)

    and damn, some of the command ships make good low sec ratting ships too

    A Claymore or Eos with three ganglinks and a pilot who has wingcommand 4-5 or even fleetcommand is highly appreciated in any gang.

    Man that Nighthawk has more tank than a Drake but 1 less launcher bay but it is soooo much better.
