Well, i must say, after the initial release, i am quite disappointed in Age of Conan. It was soooo promising, and yet it has not delivered on those promises.
At least we have Dark Age of Camelot Origins to look forward to before WAR.
(If you dont know what that is, they are bringing back Old Frontiers on a new server ruleset. http://www.camelotherald.com/polls/ )
I hope Funcom decides to get down to it and fix this game.

the new DAOC server probably wont launch until September

we still have another two to three months before it’s ready for primetime. Right now, launch is slated for the August/September timeframe. However, this is also subject to change.
I think AOC will be fine - Funcom is actively patching

its not the broken or not implemented parts of the game that ruin AoC, its just have this incredible lack of depth, which is what define a MMO to me...
AoC is a good game, if it had been a single player game, but there is just nothing there to do but grind to 80, nothing real to discover, no feel of advancement to me....
another thing that I dont get the flames havent seen...the dev´s is really Chinese - look in your art book if you bought the collector´s edition- and its of the same quality as an asain grind MMO...
great graphic ´s, havent had lag, very few crashes, those of the quests Ive cared to read were in general well written, just doesnt change the fact that you have your hand hold all the way through, nothing to go explore for, nothing to find on your own...
this make it just a really dull experience, nm how much eye candy they could put in
DAoC, brings back some old memories. The game definetly was one of my favorites.
But don't know if I could go back into it at this point, if I were you I would stay clear of MMORPGS so when Warhammer arrives, you are nice a relaxed from mmorpgs.
Stick to a FPS game like CD4, Team Fortress or better yet pick up that RTS, Sins of the Solar Empire.
Age of Conan will only get better thru time as well and I am not going to hype myself on Warhammer at this point, because there is no need to. When I was in AoC Beta it was fantastic trying out a new mmorpg that would be released to the public. I get the same feeling in War Beta (how long wil the fun last).
I hate to say it and dont crucify me yet fellow mmorpg.com, but I just hope there are more innovating mmorpgs in the future. The only ones I am looking forward is to now is.
Warhammer, Stargate Worlds (Yep, I said it) and Mortal Online at this point, because we know Darkfall is'nt coming out .. LOL
If all else fells, resort back to Eve Online or WoW Lich King. Yowzers! Did I just say that...

i thought about the exploration part for a while and wondered why it is. In Eq2 or WoW you were able to explore as much as you wanted. But what is exploration exactly? Most of the time exploration happens rather on the side while you try to find the hunting area for a certain quest or the npc mentioned in the quest description. After running around for hours looking for the damn spot you get annoyed and just ask for the coordinates in the area chat. After some time in that area you look on your map and discover some uncharted spots, which you then decide to explore. That's exploration as i saw it in Eq2 or WoW.
So, what does AoC do? Are the various areas linear? No, they are not. But instead of letting you run around for hours and making you download some mods which would need separate patching after very official patch, they inserted a rather comfortable map-tool. And that's the problem. For the Explorers out there it is too comfortable, because now I know instantly where to find my mobs and NPCs. No more running around for hours. Eq2 or WoW are no less linear than AoC, but the maps don't actually tell you where to go. Which gives the player the illusion of choice and exploration.
But can't i explore in AoC? Sure i can. The map doesn't tell you what places look like. And exploration doesn't happen on the map, but in the 3D-environment. The first time i climb up a mountain, it's the first time i have seen it, the map doesn't tell me what it will look like there.
now eq2 is what I play....am sure you can find better ' explorer games than this, but what I got to relate to, in eq2 you can atleast find things, and that what I want.....lore and legend books, shinies, random popping nameds, used to be random popping portals to another zone, hidden instances in the first part of the game... all these little things is what Im missing in AoC....a beautyful view....well I get that while doing the quests anyway, I want there to be something to be found, Ive heard there used to be a night time vendor selling special items, that is sad they take out 1 thing that could make you want to look around
