i don't think that motherboard will take the 45nm processor. i remember this being an issue when i had one.

check the evga forums to verify that. if you have to switch it the 780i is a very nice board in its place.

ack.. is that the "old" 8800GTS version you're getting ?? why ?

ditch the creative sound card and look into the asus cards.

Aside from the above mentioned.  You picked out very nice parts that are pretty much at the top of the pecking order.

I recommend an Asus Xonar Sound card instead of SoundBlaster.  They make some nice PCI-e x1 slot cards which usually is a useless slot on a motherboard.

The Antec 900 is a good case but pretty much standard.  Some higher priced Thermaltake and LainLi cases have nice style.

If you're going for the 680i Nforce board, then you're clearly interested in top of the line motherboards and or eventual overclocking. So, I'd also recommending going for the 780i motherboard. It's the next gen and should have a very long life in your system.

And look for the 8800 GTS 512 MB card, rather than your 640 MB. The one you picked is the older version of the 8800 GTS and doesn't perform nearly as well (despite it having slightly more memory). Also look at the 8800 GT and 8800 GTX.

Thanks for the heads up on the older 8800 GTS, thats exactly the kind of advice I was looking for. Ill look into a different motherboard as well. You guys are awesome.

You should look into the EVGA 750i FTW edition board.  Its not that much more expensive, its compatible with your e8500 out of the box, and its is friendly to overclocking.   Most of the features that are stripped off of the 780i chipset to make the 750i arent a big a deal. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188026

    newegg has it for 189.

Also, if you need to squeeze the price down, the e8400 is 70 dollars cheaper, only .16ghz slower, and is still overclockable.  As long as you are sticking with evga for the vid card, you should be fine.  If you arent satisfied with the 8800gts, you could just use their steup up program and grab a 9900 series card when they launch.

The 750i FTW edition board is a good recommendation. I've heard positive things about that board.
