Trouble, trouble, troulbe! Grrrrr

With all the trouble I'm having getting logged into this game...(I've YET to play AT ALL) I'm beginning to think it's not worth playing!  Grrr...which really upsets me because I was really looking forward to playing it!  Anyway, here's the message I get when I try to log in to the game...and yes, I know that all info is correct...log in name, password...all that.

 

 

The following web error occured while trying to access

"https://gls.lotro.com/GLS.AuthServer/Service.asmx":

The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server.

 

 

Anyone else having this trouble?  I've contacted Tech Support and done what told me to do...which was makes SURE lotroclient.exe and turbindlauncer.exe were listed in the allow list of my firewall.  STILL was not able to log in. 

Man, this is the hardest time I've EVER had trying to play a game! 

Sorry for the rant...I have every intent of getting this worked out and enjoying this game for a long time.

    Well, first off, have you checked the general technical support for other people who are having the same issue? And you have you posted there? Or, have you sent technical support an e-mail?

    I'll tell you that I've been playing on/off/on since launch (mostly on now) and last Sunday some "issue" hit them which caused people some problems.

    I and another had a proble where we can't see the servers to log in to them. Technical support is now working with me to resolve the issue. Can't say it's been speedy but it seems like we are making progress.

    I suggest you do as i said above and hopefully you will get some results.

     Just curious, do you have XP or Vista 64bit OS? If you do that may explain your problems.

    Don't blame the game. This is a issue on your side. This is resulting from either your virus protection settings of firewall. It's very hard to say without knowing what you use. Some people unwittingly use more then one which creates problems.

     The Game is one of the most solid running well programmed games I have seen. It's very polished.

    Calm down and go through to figure out if you might be running a firewall you might not have checked, internet settings, any virus programs.

    Hey guys...I stepped out with my hubby for a bit this evening and that really helped to calm me down...Thanks for everyones advice and again, I'm sorry about the rant...was just feeling more than a bit upset.  Although I'm still unable to log into the game...can't figure it out and I'm not comp savy at all!  :D

    Also, I'm running Win XP.  This comp is a new gaming computer so I'm not sure of everything on it yet.  I do know that I have  Windows Security, of course.  I also have a pop up blocker, which is now turned off. And I have something called Phishing Filter.  If any of this helps.

     

    No, I've not checked the Offical Boards yet...I've been dealing with Tech Support all afternoon and into the evening...But I'll do that asap.

    Yeah!  I got...finally!  Thanks guys for the help...it really DOES help to back away from the problem and come back to deal with it at a later time!  It turned out to be my Accelerator.  I live so far out in the country we don't have anything but dial-up.  Well, unless I want to pay out a small fortune for internet services, anyway.

     

    So thanks again for the help.  See you in game....

    Now, I've just got to figure out the best server for me!  :P hehehe
