City of Heroes: Schedule of Events

SzarkSzark News ManagerMember Posts: 4,420

The folks at NCsoft's City of Heroes have announced the dates for a number of events between now and January of 2009. These events are being held to celebrate the four year anniversary of the game.

April 28th, 2008 marks the fourth year since the launch of City of Heroes. To celebrate this achievement, the NCsoft NorCal team has created a City of Heroes / City of Villains calendar for fans of the game. This downloadable calendar features each of the 12 “Issues” that have been launched since the games release, one for each month of the year.

The calendar also includes an Anniversary message from Matt “Positron” Miller, along with important dates for the next year, including:

  • May 6th, 2008: Issue 12: Midnight Hour enters Open Beta Testing
  • July 18, 2008: Double XP Weekend Begins
  • October 20, 2008: Halloween Event Begins
  • December 15, 2008: Winter Event Begins
  • January 23, 2009: Double XP Weekend Begins

To view these dates, plus many more from the lore and history of City of Heroes, visit the 4 Year Anniversary Calendar web page.

Does anyone actually look forward to the Halloween and Winter events anymore?  Even if you are a huge badge whore, the hoops you have to jump through for these badges are boring as hell.  Good old recycled content, hallmark of the CoH franchise.

They usually adds SOME stuff to each event, each year.

So even if the basic is the same as the previous year, there is usually between 1-5 new things with this event.

It isn't much, but it is better than nothing...and nothing is pretty much the standard in the industry.  (or they announced that a GM will run an event, like 30-50 players are there and mostly it is talking...Zzzz, they don't announce that in CoX, it just happens when it happens, and yeah, a GM can spawn battles all over you!) :P

Now, if you want the technical improvement of any event last year, feel free to read Bab's endless ranting!  Last winter/st-valentine upgrades left a decent impression on me.
