I cant really see for a long while that one can sign up for beta and there is no official forums...
any word on when one can see either?

Official community site for Europe at least was estimated for this Q2, Aion has a fansite system though, and you might be interested in checking those.
there might not even be an international beta... people are saying...

Id let someone tattoo me with whatever just to get a chance to beta-test/play this game! I admit I want to beta-test to try the game out, but I also love bug-hunting.
