Thinking about trying,Have a couple of question's..

Hey guys,With TCoS being delayed again I was looking to try this game and was wondering.

1.Is it more solo friendly now,I know before it didnt cater for solo play,I do like to group up but there are times I would like to just solo and still be doing something.

2.How is the community,Is it friendly, helpful and mature?

3.Do the servers still have a decent population or will it be quite lonely at times?

Thanks for the answers guys,I know some ppl might say "try the trial" but the game is only 6 euro's now so no problem just buying it if the answer to these question's is postive.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

    1. Solo play is much more complete now.  FIrst of all, many more quests have the solo option, but more than anything the "explorer zones" are very solo friendly and amount to a TON of content, experience, and reward.

    2. Community is the best I've seen in an MMO.  For one, they tend to be older than almost anywhere else...for another because there is no "ganking" or "ninja looting" or "spawn camping"...there's no pettiness that goes with those things.

    3. Since you said "euro" I'm thinking you're planning on playing on the Euro servers, and I don't know much about their pops.  The US servers are great though post merge, grouping is simple as could be population wise.

    What's TCoS?

    1.  Yes.  There are outdoor areas which provide for incremental exp rewards from killing and exploring.  The areas kind of involve reentering to gain the full EXP.  The tunnels of the water works & the Cerulian Hills (both out of the harbor) are low level and very solo friendly.  You should be able to get around 5k-6k exp from accomplishing most of the goals; kill, explore, rare spawns.

My personal opinion on exclusive solo play is it’s extremely difficult to accomplish level increases, but there are areas where you can hang out killing stuff for a little exp if you only have 30 minutes.  If your game time is limited to 30 minutes per session you will have an extremely difficult time accomplishing anything within the game.  Most quests will take 30-45 minutes if not an hour and a half to complete, not counting a story arch.  Some can take upwards of 2 hours!

When I want to solo something it’s generally for loot rather then EXP.  Currently, I’ve been ransacking The Vale (lvl 12-16 out door area) for loot since it takes me about 30-45 minutes to completely run through all the spawn locations for rare boss encounters.

    2.  Community is pretty good for the most part.  Unfortunately as with anything online, you’re bound to stumble upon an occasional ass hat.  I’d say that during my evenings I notice mostly mature people playing.  During my days there are more kids and some of the attitudes reflect the community at different times of the day. (I play in the PDT time zone)  I suspect the average player age is 25-40 from my experience.

    3.  The population of DDO is the highest it’s been in a long time.  There’s been a LOT of returning and new players to DDO in the last month.   Check official DDO server threads on the US or European site to determine which server is more suited to your needs.  I never have a problem getting into or forming a group regardless if it’s 8am, 3pm or midnight; I play on Ghallanda.

Both of the euro servers are good, Devourer has been accused of being a bit more hardcore and Keeper a little more casual, but to be honest is hard to find bad people in this game.

Come on in the waters lovely!
