I played this game the first couple months it was out. Is there anything new in the game worth coming back for?

That's a hard one to answer as "what is worth coming back for?"

They added housing... some like that, the outfit system to customize your character, new areas, new quests.

Mines of Moria will be coming out as the next expansion... you'll have to look on this site to see... I think it's next fall or thereabouts.

I also think they added some sort of pvp area which then opens up a pve areas to those who control it...or that is coming... can't rememember.

Wow. That has my attention that is quite a bit of new content in the game. I might have to check it out again! Thanks pal.

If you only played for the first few months - there is a LOT of new content for you to explore...

Several new map areas - with another large area coming in the next month or two (book 13) - a Northern frozen waste...

Housing areas - buy your own personal house, and kinship houses... 

Reputation areas and instances - grind and make items to swap for reputation with factions, for unique items and recipes.

'Outfits' - if you like to wear a set of clothes just for the look, while keeping your armour bonuses of your best armour - you can do that - two extra 'looks' are available (and you dont' have to keep the clothing items once youv'e added them into an outfit). 

The paid for expansion coming at the end of the year also will add two new class types... and a ton off stuff!
