Before you post here, take a few seconds and think of what your purpose is with it.

Are you acctually intresting to see this game get released? If not, why are you here?

If you have negative comments, please try to elaborate in such manor that we can provide you with a answer.

If you never read about the game before and have a question, use the search bottom here, and over the official board. www.darkfallonline.com.

This is common here, read through those before posting.

Topic Hijacking

Posting comments within a thread which severely disrupts the original conversation is prohibited at MMORPG.com.

Example: Asking whether a game has PvP in a thread about crafting materials found in a new expansion is Topic Hijacking.

Game Attacks

Unsubstantiated comments about specific or general games will be penalized in nearly the same way attacks against people will. The exception is that you can say mean things about games provided you back it up with reasons.

Example: "Game X sucks." is not a legitimate comment. "Game X sucks, because..." is acceptable.

Trolling

Posting excessive negative comments or baiting others to respond in a negative manner is considered trolling on the MMORPG.com forums.

For example: If there is one game that you did not enjoy, voicing your opinion is encouraged. Posting this opinion in every thread concerning that game to the point that it disrupts all other conversation is not tolerated.

Off-Topic Posting

Posting in boards that clearly have nothing to do with your topic is not tolerated. Typically, posts of this nature will be moved to the appropriate board.

Example: A post in the EverQuest II boards about how much you love World of WarCraft is off topic.

Multiple Accounts

If the staff of MMORPG.com discovers that a user is creating and/or using multiple accounts, that user, and all accounts, both past and present, will be banned from MMORPG.com.

Words to live by Segg, consider them more carefully in the future.

Hey, I think I'll post something about Darkfall.  I think its really great how many people like Ghoul and I care to sift through the many posts by DF fans and take the time to provide intelligent responses on the issues concerning the game and its many facets.

    You should be thanking us.

I thank the OP for reminding people of board rules. I made mistakes on this board but tries to live by the rules nowadays.

One of the biggest problems here on Darkfall board is this:

Certain people seems to have made it their single purpose in life to troll the Darkfall board, no names mentioned but the ones concerned know who they are. Constructive critic is ok but there is loads of trolling going on on the Darkfall board these days. How this can be allowed to continue is above me. If people criticise the game have some examples of what it is that is bugging you. And the baiting described above is common in every thread by the same people all the time. Id like to see some moderator step in and explain the rules, its not that hard to read btw the lines what the intention in some replies is, is it?

Thanks for posting this, sometimes the haters need a reminder of the rules. - nomatter how desperate they are.

Account has been stolen, why would someone want to steal my account?

  • downtoearthdowntoearth Member Posts: 3,558

did anyone else notice the mods stickied it LOL

  • daarcodaarco Member UncommonPosts: 4,275

Yeah, i was a bit surprised. Maybe this mean that someone is taking DF seriously now?

  • downtoearthdowntoearth Member Posts: 3,558

Of course Why yout hink I always take them seriously because of the way there actully doing things.

And not hyping there game at all and not trying to prove there game isnt vapor.

    Once again this forum has turn to a playground with trolls, people seems to forget the basic rules. But we have a explanation;

Comment Trolling Has A Psychological Explanation

Comments trolls are the bane of most sites; where as the vast majority of people may never comment on a post those that do usually fall into one of three categories.

Legitimate commenters, who have something thoughtful to say and/ or add to the conversation (for and against), link spammers who comment on the off chance they might get some traffic as a consequence of their comment (sometimes these fall into the first category..hard to tell) and trolls, who make it their business to criticize anything written and the people who wrote it, in some sort of sad attempt at self validation by being nasty towards others for the sake of it. Like taking drugs, trolling is a poor mistress that demands more and more to feed the self satisfying addiction that props up their self esteem.

New Scientist has a psychological explanation for poor behavior online. Whilst the post talks mainly about email, NewScientist draws the relationship between this and comment trolls. You can read the whole post here, but here are some highlights:

Social psychologists have known for decades that, if we reduce our sense of our own identity – a process called deindividuation – we are less likely to stick to social norms…the same thing happens with online communication such as email. Psychologically, we are “distant” from the person we’re talking to and less focused on our own identity. As a result we’re more prone to aggressive behavior, he says.

Another factor influencing online communication, according to Epley, is simply the risk of miscommunication involved with text-based messages, which are inherently more ambiguous. At the same time, he notes, email “has the feel of informality – we just fire something off”, even though we probably ought to treat it with the same care as a written letter. And, as most people probably know, this can cause problems for both the sender and the receiver.

I’ll leave the final word to New Scientist’s Michael Marshall:

I’m not sure what we can do to minimize miscommunication and abuse online. But being aware that we’re not as good at communication online as we’d like to think seems like a good start. I know I often have to restrain myself from joining in.

All kidding aside...did you really need to post some article about someone who got a research grant for something redundant?

Seriously...does it take a rocket scientist to figure out that people will act more confrontationally and in socially unacceptable ways when their identity is a secret?

Of course people ignore the normal boundaries when they can do so without fear of repercussion. %90 of the comments you see on here would never happen if you were face to face with the individuals, because they would fear getting their teeth knocked down their throats for being such A#@holes in real life.

You wont atleast create alt. accounts to flame us, they're those I disgust. Those who can't stand behind their own words and needs to hide behind alternative personalities.

I hardly think this is secluded to the haters, the fanbois with their alt accounts are hilarious specifically the ones that made identical spelling mistakes and write exactly how they speak. I mean if your going to have alt accounts at least TRY to hide it.
