Looking for advice on a new monitor.
My old monitor is starting to act really funny I think it's just about ready to give it up so I am needing to buy a new one. I was going to just go back to bestbuy and get a new one but after this one don't know how much can trust them. I only had my old one for like 6 months and it's already done.
So I am needing help in finding a good deal on a new monitor. Pretty much I just play games at home and do some reading. I am looking for around like a 19-22 inch one or so. Price isn't huge deal but would be great if could get a nice deal just looking for a pretty decent monitor to replace my old one really. I just don't know much about computers so have no clue where to find one other then like a bestbuy store and I have no clue what to look for in a monitor.

Hi, this is a hardware thread but to help you I will need to know what type of monitor that your needing to replace? Do you have an LCD or CRT? Can't really help till you let me know about that.

I haven't heard anything negative about the Samsung SyncMaster 226bw and if I haave to get a new monitor it will be this one
but my dell is looking tight right now.
I have the 22" Hanns-G w/HDMI, and I love it. Got it off newegg for only $209, couldnt be more happy.

Oh sorry didn't even think about that I want a LCD.
Most newer displays 22'' and above are using better display panels. But for the best LCD panel you will pay $600+ for a 20'' and that is way to high so you must compromise on what has a very good contrast and blackness level with good color and my 2 best picks are the 2 listed below. Both got great reviews around the net recently also.Oh sorry didn't even think about that I want a LCD.

there's something funky about the model numbers tho, there's one, and i can't remember if it's the one with the "Y" or without it, that you don't want. i found the one i wanted at bestbuy and it was cheaper than that new egg price.
my ONLY problem with wide screen is that the thousands of wallpapers i have collected over 15 years or so are all for a standard ratio monitor

I'd recommend Samsung for anything 22 and under for LCDs - I've had one for a very long time now that I use for a secondary system (for over 3 years now and no problems).
For higher-end, I'd strongly recommend the Apple Cinema HD Display (I've been using the 23" for two+ years now and would never use anything else).

like I say before samsung FTW!
You said you want an LCD, but if you want something good and cheap, don't be afraid of a CRT monitor. (Yes, the big kind.) A top-of-the-line used 21" is easily under $50 and will have a better picture than an LCD.
Just tossing that out there in case you happen upon one and think it will tide you over for awhile if nothing else. CRT monitors and TVs still have the best video quality in the business. They are only out of favor now due to the size and weight.
