Threesome?

Have any of you guys heard about 3 way sli?  From all the information I can find it looks like a single 8800 GTX/Ultra will take any thing you throw at it.  Two of them seem to be untouchable.  Why would you possibly need 3?

It just seems like overkill to me.

    because its american and we can??? Some ppl have the $ to throw at it then go ahead. I have a single 8800GTX and i love it.

    Nvidia cant even get regular SLi working right, and quietly let Quad-SLi die after giving up on it very quickly. I cant possible see any reason for 3-SLi, and definetly cant see it actually working right.

    This is clearly a "desperation" manuver by Nvidia in response to AMD's Spider Platform eventhough Nvidia has majority market share. AMD has pratically perfected multi-card setups with their 3000 series cards, and shown that they can still deliver a great product at a good price. Myself, I own a 8800GT, but I wish I waited another 2 months and got the 3870.

    crossfire has 4, so sli needs at least 3, though they'd probably prefer 5 so they can say theirs is bigger.

    Ya right now nothing beats 2 3870's on a 790X chipset.  However, Crossfires 4x doesn't work either.

    It's funny that the test platform other sites tested, they couldnt even run Crysis on its highest setting, well enough. Even with 3way SLi.

    But yeah, there is people out there that don't mind spending so much money on their computer.

    the title is...misleading

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
    -Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
