Not at release.
Will they put it in via patch or expansion sometime later? Maybe.
No housing, no crafting...kind of killed the game for me.
okay thanks for the info.. Going to read more about WAR today and watch all the video's and podcast..
Thanks Impyriel for the sig^^
Housing would be cool and nice, but not really need. As long as they have a bank or something to hold my items.
Crafting isn't big deal for me.. I never cared for crafting any MMO.. The only craft I spent time on is engineering in WoW and thats only because its fun..
But I like farming better better then crafting, maybe it's just me but it's better. IMO
Thanks Impyriel for the sig^^
Don't know where you got this one from. The devs have stated in the past that they plan to implement crafting, but it will be "fun and useful". I have yet to find anything where they state that they do not plan to have crafting.

Crafting has been hinted at for months there is Crafting the devs are just holding off on telling us anything about other than its 'awsome'. There is NOT how ever housing which honestly I'm just fine with since housing is often a wasteful feature (aka not done properly) and it sort of doesn't fit with the IP to go "oh im going to decorate my house tralala".

I have been watching some videos, interviews etc, and there was a hint ... citys can expand, couldnt that be a hint of guild buildings ? just a guess.. we have to wait for some detailed information about the game, but first at release we can be 100% sure

Where in the nine hells did you come up with the "no crafting" bull? Is it because you took no time to research the game and skimmed over the website? Did you say: "oh, I don't see crafting features, so it must not be in the game". Normally I wouldn't flame someone for something like this.. but being ignorant is inexcusable. In several of the podcasts and videos, crafting has been mentioned. Not in full detail, but it has been mentioned and it has been said that crafting WILL be in the game.
Try doing some research, because if you're going to waste your time posting here,.. then at least know what you're talking about.
There is crafting, but no player housing -- that's true enough. However, with the implementation of keeps guilds can now "claim" a keep by winning it in battle. NPC guards will then spawn to help the guildies keep control of it and slow down its capture/recapture by other guilds. The idea I believe is to slow down an attacker and give the owners time to get back and defend their "guild hall" so that sneaky nightime attacks will at least be contested

Mythic's previous implementation of Housing is one of the main reasons I DO NOT want to see housing in the MMO i play
I highly doubt that, World of Warcraft promised having housing, then they delayed it, and just let their words die out... they're doing well without it thanks to add those kiddies, so im guessing they will never add housing in WAR. I could be wrong, however... and I hope I am
Not trying to sound argumentative, but what is the appeal of guild housing anyway? I never really saw it as anything more than just some place to hang out. I could do that anywhere. Sure there may be a vendor, and one or two other little goodies, but nothing that I couldn't access in the normal gaming world.
I'm asking cause I'm honostly curious, not just for arguments sake. Why do players want guild housing?
I'm 30 thank you but thanks for generalizing us after your own flawed beliefs
That is a good point. Guilds could use their acquired fortress as a type of guild hall. I just hope we don't see the same guilds controlling the same keeps all the time. The fact that your guilds banner is visible on the keep is a very neat idea imo.
edit: Keep in mind to, the way they present the multiple taverns in the capitol cities leads me to believe they intend for guilds and/or groups of friends to meet up in them as well.

I have never considered housing (or crafting either for that matter) as merely 'add ons' to any MMO. Those two things are essential for immersion, completeness, and a thriving economy... at least in my book. There just has to be more to do than constantly bash mobs or other players over the head with your mace! WAR has claimed it will have crafting, but it will be all focused on providing stuff for the RvR combat. That's ok I guess and it fits the Warhammer lore I guess. No housing is kind of a let down though. It will be interesting to see how the housing situation affects the player base as that is a question that potential gamers almost always ask the Devs about while making their decision on what game to buy.

Every game I've played that had housing I rarely if ever went to my house. In EQ2 the only reason to even use an empty room as a house was for the Player run vendor system that was about it. Otherwise it was just a pointless feature. Guild halls while cool I never really saw the need for them. Back in the EQ1 days if we wanted to have a big guild in person meeting we picked a building, tavern, or strip of land that wasn't very busy adn gathered up to have our little guild gathering & social events. While its certaintly cool these options are made available or added on over time not having them won't turn me away from a game. The over all point to any game is to have fun and housing & guild halls aren't 'fun features' they're simple 'social' structures.
I fail to see how housing is even useful for a game like Warhammer where its all about your country being in a constant state of invasion or invading the enemy. It'd certainly be a peeve off to only have 30 mins in which to go check your house for something only to find your city under siege so you can't even go 'home'. I mean what do orcs get? A pile of dirt with some twigs over head? Chaos what do they live in a single ooze filled chamber? The only races to even get decent homes would be the Order side. Homes weren't used in the table top or the RPG it would be a completely un IP thing in game that would either really peeve off Warhammer fans or peeve off non warhammer fans depending on how well they are recieved. Warhammer is not meant to be & has clearly been shown not to be some big fat bloated Vanguardian Lord of the Rings RPG affair. Which I'm frankly glad for. I like having plenty of options but sometimes to many options just means that many more bugs & balances that have to be worked out. Why not let the core important parts of the game get fully designed and developed and released before worrying about silly optional things that just add code bloating.

Housing in most MMORPGs tends to be "nice to have" but not very necessary.
Housing needs to incorporate things like crafting stations, merchant vendors, special transportation portals, lots of extra storage space to be useful and efficient.
But first off, I'd like to see a good Crafting system and Auction House. That makes for a good game economy.
Housing can come later in an expansion.

Housing is useful for many things.
Somewhere to keep your extra stuff that you cant seem to part with.
Somewhere to hang out with your friends after you're max lvl and have nothing better to do.
It can also be used to craft without any nonsense going on near you. Peace and quiet.
As for guild houses, they were useful in DAoC because of the Vaults.
- Worked well for character transfers and supplying new guild members with somewhat better gear.
None-the-less I dont want to see it in Warhammer Online.....yet
I'm not a fan of player housing, but I do recall what it was good for in DAOC, especially for guild houses.
1) Great place to display guild trophies, like stuffed dragon heads.
2) Great place to store extra loot so people leveling up can access free gear
3) Great place to gather prior to leaving for a raid or activity.
4) Let you place crafting tables and merchants so you could craft with guildmates.
5) You could set your hearth stone there, so that after you wiped in a big raid, you could quickly visit the healer, grab some extra siege supplies and then access a teleporter that took you back out to the action very quickly.
6) Was a point of pride when your guild could afford and maintain a mansion along with a dozen or more houses around it.

Personally I like housing, if it is implemented or not though is not on my priority list.
Many people disliked DAOC housing because trying to find locations were a pain in the ass, plus lots were finite so everyone couldn't have one.
So I suggested something that was a mix of DAOC and EQ2. Perhaps something in the middle, an instance of multiple houses aligning a street or two. Call them "street blocks". Keep the buildings joined (sort of like duplexes or the whole street joined) . The zone entrance would be in the city, and like in EQ2 when you crossed into the zone you would have a box pop up with a selection of "blocks or streets" to choose from. Something like Block 1, Block 2, Block 3, and so on. Expanding on that idea there could be multiple zones in a city with different street names that would have different styles of housing. I.E. "Alexander street block 1" would have 2 room housing and "Sigmar street block 1" would have 4 room housing etc.
The layout of the blocks would be maybe 20 or so houses in a cul-de-sac.

Thank you for the response. As you can tell I was never really big on housing, but mostly cause I never really used it. However I can definately see the appeal if you have access to vaults, healers, hearth, ect. These could be especially usefull prior to setting up a raid on the Green Skin capitol
In game housing isn't just for place for hang out.. I never hang out in my homes in EQ2, FFXI etc..
But it's cool to have IMO.. Plus buy stuff to hold more items.. Is good thing IMO..
Thanks Impyriel for the sig^^
Housing would be neat. However, I can live without it. I would much rather have WAR come out sooner rather than later + housing.
