And was pretty impressed with the game and was actually about to subscribe and buy it until yesterdays ALL day downtime. This turned me off right away. I couldn't believe the servers where down for so long. And to think i was going to actually spend money on this. And I read that Turbine sometimes ends up doing rollbacks up to a week! What the heck!?! Whew, i'm glad I didn't buy this game, it would of ended up like Vanguard, on my shelf collecting dust. And if your a fan boy who says EVERY server has down time....yeah true...but not while I was trying out my trial to see if I wanted to buy it. So...

DDO was one of the funniest MMO i have played.....the first month.
Then...it were not a real MMO, only instanced dungeons.
But the real time combat sure make up for that.
Yeah it seemed interesting as heck. But I don't know how long the whole instanced dungeon crawling would of kept my interest. I like to explore and go where I want to go.
DDO has never had a rollback of even 5 minutes, which is part of the reason the servers stayed down as long as they did yesterday...to avoid that. It was every Turbine game, AC, LOTRO, and DDO...oh, and btw? DDO players were given something I've never seen another MMO give for downtime in history...their money back for the lost day.
Good luck with that never down MMO...in fantasyland.
p.s. Try finding a post like this about less than 24 hours downtime from the marketing department of any other MMO for sale today...

LOL! There were days when even games that so many hold so high such as WoW when there servers were down nearly whole days.
oh...one more point of reference for your ridiculously inaccurate post:
DDO: No rollbacks ever.
WoW: Can't say the same thing.
I remember at least one after Module 2 I think, maybe 2.something, due to the returning throwing weapons turning into stacks of 50 returning throwing weapons. Or was it just the Chill Shard? Maybe i'm imagining the whole thing . The servers were taken down half an hour after the new patch went live and players lost whatever they did in that time.

I've played ddo and even lotro both and I've never seen a rollback happen. And as far as when and where they have down time believe it or not has nothing to do with who you are, or what your doing. Other than that I would add that ddo is a good game for a couple months, It just doesn't have that sandbox type of play that keeps people in the game very long

WoW has given loads of free time to players because of downtime.
Pretty sure DDO had at least one rollback during the second time you could copy stacks of chillshards or whatever. Might have rolled back six hours, not sure.
I don't understand people not buying the game if they like it AT ALL. For how cheap it can usually be found for, you'll get at least a month of playing out of it, and that's a lot better fun-vs.-cost than most games have.
Wrong never has happend.
You are 100% wrong on the DDO "No Rollback."
DDO performed a rollback after an update a while ago whereby you could multiply Throwing weapons in your inventory. People were multipling them and selling them to the vendors.
And there is plenty of supporting evidence that a small rollback was done on Monday.
I've never experienced a Roll back and I've been playing for the past year and there's not any recent notes on roll backs (because yes people would post about it there). Roll backs to me meaning having to redo entire days or weeks worth of XP & items & everything else. Which personally I'd be pissed off about if not compensated and DDO has a pretty decent record of compensating you for random events of dire consequence.
Honestly OP how can you talk so good about the game then just drop it over a server down day? This past month is the first time in a year I've experienced down times of this type with Turbine. Servers do die you know it happens...I remember the hell of WoW when theyw ere replacing / changing servers and you could be without play on your main server for days if it went wrong.
Honestly...Sometimes I think people judge games on entirely the wrong criteria. Have some real standards like is it fun? Does it run good on your machine? Do the add new things to the game on a regular basis of some sort? Are you happy with the actual game ?
Come on server down time doesn't count it happens with everything even your cable or dsl provider has random days where crap happens.
btw Deadly fixing an ingame bug that allowed players to expliot it and make money is not a roll back..its a Patch aka Repair.
When you play Online games like DDO, EQ2, WoW, etc etc expect there atleast once or twice in your life time of playing said game of choice that you'll have long downtimes due to error.
Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!
Well I guess we will have to agree to disagree on the definition of what a rollback is.
It was stated that there has never been rollbacks on DDO, this is false. I did not say the rollback was unwarranted, only that it had happened.
Anywho, all online games have downtime. Never really noticed too many ridiculous-downtime days on DDO other than during the first month. Too bad the game didn't originally launch with all the fixes and mods it has now.
Yeah, remember also, that 20 guys on the DDO forums screaming "ROLLBACK" conspiracy style doesn't make it so.
After every downtime, you get the same 20 screaming that something or other was nerfed as well...when it wasn't.
Ive never played DDO but i gotta say that comment about them giving back money for the lost day caught my interest.... because i will say ive never heard of that in any other game ......If i can find a free trial i will try it out tonight... That 1 day refund really earned alot of cool points for me... it's not about the money im sure for you subscribers but it's nice to see a company give back when they dont have to.
