Anyone have some helpful advice to a longtime CRT owner =O Im finally looking to spend a good amount into a nice LCD Monitor, sizes can range from 22-32 inches, but would prefer a great resolution, with no ghosting if at all possible.
I've come to a few decisions so far, but it's based on ignorance due to the fact that I know next to nothing on whether 8ms is better then 6ms in response time or a 1000:1 or 6000:1 is a better contrast ratio etc
I've come to the following makes and models for my narrowed decisions;
Samsung LN T2653H 26" ~ $693.00 (LCDTVS.com)
1366 x 768 Resolution
5000:1 CRatio
16:9 ARatio
8ms Response

Con: Known to have a slight noise when the backlight is set above 6~
Sharp LC 26D43U 26" ~ $668.35 (WorldWide Distributors)
1366 x 768 Resolution
6000:1 CRatio
16:9 ARatio
6ms Response

Dell 2407WFP HC 24" ~ $669.00 (Dell.com, can wait for -$100 rebate)
1920 x 1200 (better than 1080i with most other LCD Tv's since it's a monitor)
1000:1 CRatio
6ms Response

Con: On/Off Button malfunctions due to spring after few months..
If you have any other suggestions, please go ahead!

I have a 3000:1 CR and everything looks perfectly fine to me. But read that to learn what it is.
Also, lower response times are better. My LCD is 2ms. (19 inches) Mine is a Compute Monitor though, so that is probably why it's faster than those TV's. I'm buying HDTV Tuner for my computer though, so it will soon be a TV.

i went thru this a coupla months ago looking for a 22". i ended up with the LG L226WT (NOT the Q model) and i couldn't be happier.
i didn't want to go any bigger than the 22" for pc gaming because to me, having a larger monitor than that right there in front of your face like that is just a little too much. i really like the 22" size.
as far as "watching downloaded content" well ummm .. nevermind, but i haven't used my monitor for much video playback either dvd or "otherwise" so i don't know.

It all depends on what kind of games you play. I have a samsung 19 inch with a 2 ms response time and a 3000:1 contrast ratio. Samsung is known for not blurring on games and movies with fast motion. You don't have to buy one there, but go into best buy or circuit city and just take a look at the different monitors. You can see on many of the monitors that are playing animations at high speed you can see a blur. If you end up getting a TV instead of a minitor it's much more noticeable. Just know what you are buying before you buy it. Thats the only problem with newegg is that you haven't seen the product yet so if 200 reviews fail to mention the monitor comes with a raccoon, then you end up SOL.(just a joke but you get the point)
haha~
Ya I stopped by Costco to see a veritable plethora of different sizes and shapes that could suit my needs. You got me thinking on the 22" ... if I do end up buying that, I could get a whole new computer from Dell with that for a few hundred more than I was planning on spending
24" was 670~, new computer with 22" $1100
How does this look ~
~$1260
it's not bad. Increase the memory to 4GBs and you should have no problems at all. Ultimately it would be cheaper to build one, but it's not necessary. If you got the cash, go for it!
