End of PvP...Welcome PvE

jdagjdag Member Posts: 48

Well it seems like the most PvP heavy guild on the barbarian side has called it quits. I guess the roman legion can fight Brudei and his picts(NPCs if you are wondering). The barbarian side is just about dead now like in the past.

I never thought i'd see this day but Redbedlam decided to do something that was not at the right time to do so. When you see a guild full of PvP heavy members leave you know something is wrong. Redbedlam will regret their decision when they find out no one but romans are participating in their story arcs. When they find out there are no more barbarians willing to fight in battles anymore.

Way to go RB! Its always RB that ends up destroying the barbarians' population. Have fun romans. You guys know that the only competition you guys had were from the members of the most PvP heavy guild in the north. Its a shame RB had to destroy PvP like this. There were many alternatives they could have taken but decided to take this one and now look at the outcome. Romans now have no one worth fighting.

KFR's greed for verm has destroyed his own game. When someone cares more about the money you know its not going to work out. If you want more money then start listening to your customers. Without customers you can say good bye to this sorry ass game.

I have to admit RV is one of the very few mmo's I've never tried.... it just seems so prehistoric and dated.

    Am I wrong?

RV has its Highs and lows, all in all I personally feel the community makes the game, even though we fight with the Devs so much. I will say this, there are ALOT of advertises in their description that are just not true at all. None the less the game has alot of potential, its only left up to the Devs if they will listen or not to the players voices.

  • jdagjdag Member Posts: 48

RV has potential but the wrong company is developing it. Redbedlam just doesn't know where their priorites are and its really hurting them right now. The game still has bugs that have been known for months yet they want to bring in this stat decay. KFR has even said that they can fix the lag in Corst during huge raids yet they release this stat decay. Where the hell are your priorities? Why release this when you can be working on the many bugs that are still out there? Why release something like this when its not even needed at this time. If they think stat decay and specialisation is at the top of their priorities then every player is in for a long one.

This game has lost all its hope because the lead developer has got greedy. Many veterans have left and the few who stay are the ones who can't see the light. Wondering what the population is now? I'd say less than fifty players are logging in on an average day. Now that is sad for a game that calls itself a MMO.

This game has taken its course. I don't expect this game to be up any longer than a year and a half. Maybe two just because KFR would want to squeeze that last amount of verm out of the fools who have stayed with the game.

It's not that bad at all.

As part of the escalation process the skill loss from death has been upped. RB has done this to make battle a little more meaninful than the typical one man suicide raids that were going on sometimes four times a day. There are alot of PvsPers who welcome this change and have asked for it. The few naysayers you see here spread their propaganda because they are not welcome to do so on the RV forums by the vast majority of the community. RV is not dying it is going through some major updates right now that will lead us to guildhalls and board settlement and a whole slew of other things.

KFR listens to the community and has been on the boards almost all day the past two days to answer questions and help the community understand more clearly about skill degrade he cares about the game and the community despite what naysayers may say about him. RB does it's best but it is constantly being yelled and whined at by players like jdag.

The only people KFR listens to are the ones who put the money in his pocket

  • jdagjdag Member Posts: 48

Have you ever thought why RB has always been in the line of fire? If they did things right you wouldn't have "naysayers" like me to come on here.

"naysayers" like me are just trying to save people the $40 that they will regret if they bought this game. Either you believe Vepgenus or the "naysayers" like me is up to you.

Realize this. How many veterans from gamma, beta, and release are still here? Not many I can tell you that. Why? Because they were promised something they never got. I've seen the light and so have others. The few 50-60 players active haven't found the light yet. They are still being brainwashed by RB that one day you will see lands beyond South Eastern Caledonia. One day you will see horses. One day you will be able to shoot arrows. That one day will never come because KFR is busy finding ways to increase the verm contributions.

Wait, you are saying that the developers made dying in PVP more  meaningful  and  risky and some of the hardcore PVP crowd decided to quit playing?  You must be making that up since "everyone" knows hardcore PVP'er  want severe death/loot penalties in every game.

Many PVPers welcomed stat decay on death, however the game is in such a bad state in terms of crashing, buggy NPCs, etc, that you are far more liklely to die due to the game's mistake than your own.

All PVPers wanted full loot, the ability to conquer, and destruction. Those have yet to make it in.

As it stands, a PVPer can fight at high risk to himself, but without full loot  they have yet to make the reward worth the risk.

Me and my friends (Nervii) had been with RV for a long time. Post launch has gone downhill, the devs have seemed to stop caring for the community, their priorities are wrong, and some would even say they've lied to cover their sorry abilities.

Vepgenus, hang in there fanboi! You diehard, nothing else to do, romans can have the game all to yourselves! I'm sure you'll only see the truth when they close the server down. But keep VERMing though!

Hell that's fine i'll play with Augir and his Alts.  Then i'll see when a majority of the freeman players comeback and complain because they're so far behind everyone else who stuck it out with RV.

Vep would you agree that the combat in RV needs a to be worked on? After a while playing i realized that only after did i reach 80 skill points in spear was i able to actually touch anything and to me that seems a little off.

These guys are mostly right.  I've been testing this game since beta and there was only one board for the whole game.  In the last 2 weeks I've seen the best warriors and the best crafters I know, leave the game.  I've seen the game taken away from ppl who've spent a year building their skills, and given to those who have an alt for each skill.  That which we once called "cheap" is now embraced by RedBedlam.  If they were going through with this type of deploy, it should have been done long ago and not kept in the shadows.

Many of you guys weren't around when Virtus was more of a Fanboi than Vepgenus will ever be.  We all were.  We used to cheer everytime KFR posted.  We wished him well and gave him encouragement.  But slowly when we wanted to stop testing and actually play the game, he became distracted, tired, and disconnected.  His ears could not hear the call of the people.  Even after release, we'd be told to post less and do error reports more.  All this in a "released" game.

Its a shame that all these good folk, who immerse themselves in history and RP, who are a cut above the other "WTB sword w/+10 fire dmg, pst" crowd, have had to grind through all this.  So much potential, but bad implementation.

Look for storing items in projectsites to just vanish one day.  "They were never meant for that anyway" is all you'll hear in the forum.  Then a push for more ppl to VERM to get a gh or more rentable storage space.  Look for one man to monopolise the boards on the roman side and look for no real barbs to fight north of the wall.  Look for people to either go exactly with a premeditated plotline and game, or get shafted.

I'm not saying that I haven't had good times, but to solely concentrate on those few good things would be lying to myself about the real meat and potatoes of the game.

I mean to hit anyone. I had to train constantly for about a week before i could even become ellgible to be a meatsheild.

Ahhh ok now i get it, well with Skill decay in you should be able to fight just fine with 80 spear in the future. There will be alot less people who are fully maxed fighters, but as for grind time i don't see that changing but you never know they could speed it up a little bit.

When i had to regrind spear i maxed spear out in two days, it really matters who your training partner is, if it's not a fully maxed warrior then your grind will be slower.

It's a sad fact but many beta testers of any MMO get burnt out after a while and it's understandable. The cycle with RV is people get mad. They quit, they comes back two weeks later. Why? Because there is nothing on the market like it, if you don't want to deal with elves and magic shit and want to play in a historical MMO this is the place to be, but if you can put up with magic and crap have fun with another MMO. If i wanted magic elves and all that i would just go back to paper D&D where i played with a group for 5 years before becoming burnt out on it.

I honestly wish I could believe that those who have "left for good" have actually done so.  So many come back periodically, are still not satisfied with progress made on development, spend two weeks spamming the forums with complaints, and then dissappear again.  It does nobody any good.

On this recent issue of skill decay, EVERYBODY knew it was coming. Let's make that clear.  The big mistake seems to be that the game initially allowed some people to master a very unrealistic 50 or so skills.  They now are faced with having to give up a lot of those masteries as decay sets in.  It's actually forcing the specialization and necessary player-to-player interaction that was advertised.  Without full loot, there does seem to be a lack of incentive for somebody to try and kill another, but I prefer to wait and see what happens.  The game is so complex nobody ever knows the full affect changes will have on it.

Seems most in my own guild welcome the skill decay and we're already planning and coordinating our specializations.  I'm actually relieved I won't have to cover so many and we're this week welcoming some new members who not only can help fill some skill holes the guild will have, but will find some pride of accomplishment in doing so.

The way this game is set up, I believe it can thrive and be interesting with only a few hundred active players.  That's enough for new settlements to be made, trade to develop, and some medium sized wars to occur here and there.  I think the active population right now is below 100 but we few sticking it out are productive.  Just some slow, steady growth in population is all that is needed.  Not sure if that will happen, but I'll stick around and see.

I'd have to say that banning yourself wasnt the right move. Perhaps if you stayed and continued to voice your opinion they might finally get it.
