I've downloaded the Trial 2 times in the past and like it but It was still a bit confusing even after the 2nd time through that long ass tutorial. I been trying ALOT of mmorpgs lately and their all the same. you have a hotkey bar and you fight mobs and do quests and to attack you hit 11122255533111 etc...

This is a sci fi and its pretty cool. only thing i didnt like about it was that its slow paced. i know combat is intense but still slow paced. ill get over it though. maybe it gets faster as you progress, idk, i only played the trial lol.

but yea im gonna DL the trial again right now and if i still like it then ill start paying monthly.

Since the game is still very confusing because its like no other mmo ive played, i was wondering if anyone could help me out.

add me on xfire if you play and wanna help and explain some stuff. that would make the game more enjoyable. thanks

Currently playing: Shadowbane (Mourning server), Rainbow Six: Vegas (PS3)

Waiting for: AoC, WAR, Darkfall, Fury

Have played: WoW (1 year), GW (6 months), Conquer Online (8 Months), Runescape (1 year).

I don't have XFire, but if you ask your questions here I'll answer 'em for you if I can.  Just be aware that my knowledge of industry and trading is limited, as I don't manufacture or sell much.  Combat, on the other hand, I can help with.

You gotta be willing to read, and then read some more and then... (yep, you guessed it) read even more!  Trust me, it will make your life in EVE much MUCH easier.  Asking questions here and on the main forums and in-game along the way to get clarification is a must as well.  Try to find a corp that takes on trial accounts asap.

There are quite a few folks that visit these forums that are rather damned friendly and pretty damned helpful.  I'd recommend asking your questions here before the main forums.  Of course, if you find a good corp then ask there first if at all possible.

I would agree, you have got to get into a corporation otherwise you are basically screwed.

It's incredibly hard to start - I got ganked 3 times in 2 weeks in 1.0 systems and basically gave up - other players were doing it just for fun!

I wish you all the best though.

You get placed in a rookie channel when your character is <30 days old.  Keep that channel up most of the time and read it as you play.  People will ask all sorts of questions in there and it is a great place to learn.  Once you start getting the hang of things you can start answering other people's questions and contribute back.

In addition, you start in a NPC corp. Fellow corp members are not your friends, but they can be used for information.  The general experience level of people talking in NPC corp chat is higher than those in the rookie channel, but they are less likely to answer rookie questions.

So, in rookie channel ask, "How do I do this?", in corp channel ask, "What is the best way to do this, or what is the best fit for that?"

In addition, the game has what is called the In Game Browser.  On the left you will see the globe icon to open it.

In the address bar paste the following address:

    http://eve.grismar.net/wikka.php?wakka=WikiHome

Hit enter and click on the bookmarks tab and hit add bookmark.  This web site can be opened in game and lists a LOT of information.  Like if you just got to the point where you want to know what signature radius is, look it up in the Wiki.  Want to know what the best ore to mine?  Look it up in the Wiki.

From a social aspect, talking in local or rookie or corp chat really does help make the game more enjoyable, even if they are "borrowed friends".  I frequent a channel called "LVL 4", which was put together by people who routinely run level 4 missions.  It is nice to talk to people who are into / doing the same thing that you are.

My in game name is Madd Bomber, feel free to message me if you have any questions.
