LotR, some questions~

So, after playing the trial and liking it more than usual I have some questions to ask before I delve deep.  First off, I'd just like to say that having the chance to (role) play in Middle-Earth is almost reason enough, just to experience the game, running it's course through the books.

 

What is Kinship?  How does this help you? 

 

As a healer in most other mmorpg's, what class can you suggest ~ Minstrel?

 

How diverse can the same class be?

 

If I think of anything else I'll be sure to add it.

    Ok, So a Kinship is a 'Guild' .

    it would help you by coming together with players of the same kinship to help get parties, and answer questions, and help eachother out.



    Mins would pretty much be your class if you want to be a healer.

    Diverse, not so much in this game i mean depends if you're a lv 50 champ you can tank low level instances instead of just DPSing the crap out of everything.







    And, i didnt win the LOTOR contest, darn it i had a 29 tank T_T i'm so sad lol.

    that 60 day trial would of helped tremendously.

    Kinships have a system called "lifespan", which gives more bonuses as time goes on. These bonuses include, but are not limited to: allowing more members, kinship auctions, kinship bank, etc. I don't know many off-hand since I am fairly new to the game myself, but it does have some pretty cool features that make it actually worth your while to stick around in one kinship for a while. :)

    A kinship runs just the same way as a guild. They are called kinships to fit the lore of the books. Kinships over time get perks not bonuses. The perks include message of the day, kinship mail, kinship auctions, Two of them allow you to have more members.

    The whole purpose of a kinship is to find like minded players to play with. I run a crafting kinship. People who are interested in crafting as their main activity generally look at my kinship. We gather materials and pass them on to each other. Craft items for those in the kinship that need them. We help each other out with deeds and quests. We joke around alot and tease each other. Just like a family.

    We consider ourselve a game family. The kinship is our game home. With the next update and housing coming into the game we will be getting a kinship house. Wich will incluce kinship storage to make passing materials on alot easier.

    Minstrel is the main healer in the game. The captain is a secondary healer as is the lore master.

    Is there a nice post somewhere of "What's to Come" later in LotR~ this is really going to go all the way to the end eh?  I don't get why everyone isn't playing this game >_>

    Because we either

    1. Made it to level 30 or higher...very quickly, and got bored with the content

    2. Had a horrible tech support experience or bad performance

    3. Found the game to be like other games which have established content or better performance..

     

    I was #2, then #1 shortly after,,,then finally #3...but, I believe in time, maybe they may make progress with the content and performance issues...so, they have been put on my wait and see in 6 months list...

    Come back and please tell us how you like the game in say 20 levels...

    In the next issue (issue 11, October) we are getting housing and expansions of some of the adventuring zones (new territory is being added to the Misty Mountains, as I recall).  We are also getting a lot of new 45 to 50 quests, and some more end game instances.  Loremasters are getting some kind of boost.   I can't remember anything being said about issue 12 except that Minsterels are getting buffed. 

    The DeVs have flat out refused to say where they are going long term, save that you can expect new zones to be opened up in roughly the order they appear in the books.

    I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

    Wow, that is some serious speculation.  Still, it's pretty fun.  Good stuff.

    I read an interview a while back  (I can't seem to find it now, but I will keep looking) that said that Turbine is planning to take add the entire saga in pieces to LOTRO. For instance, they would like to add Rohan as an expansion (the content from the Two Towers, bascially). In the interview, he mentioned the Rohirim (the people of Rohan) as being a new race, possibly.

    Also, what I haven't heard mentioned is the fact that at level 10, Monster Play opens up. Monster Play allows you access to a separate section of the world map (easily accessible through portals) where you can either take your character or customize a level 50 monster. You can be an Uruk Hai, a Warg, and a Spider among others. You don't "level-up" perse, but you do have loads of Monster quests to do that will give you new abilities, and Destiny Points, which can be spent on a number of temporary boosts, like a temporary boost to XP gained while playing.

    I personally think that while LOTRO might not appear to be anything "new", I think they've taken the good points from a number of games and wrapped them into one game. And a good one at that, IMO.
