If you're serious about starting again just don't do it. Population may seem good but from when i last played there were a lot of bots around(1 month ago). There are better games around. Try EQ2 for example.

Anyways I just came back to Lineage II 2 weeks ago and am enjoying it. They should have server transfers soon (I'm pretty sure) and that'll help population a lot. Either way there still is a lot going on. Most of it is high level stuff but there are plenty of people in the lower levels.
That'll change too when CT1 goes live hopefully this december or something. New race .

Yeah, they are trying to get server transfers in before the end of 4th quarter of this year. Whether they can actually do this is another thing. It's my thought that they are striving for a "more bang for the buck" type of effort with the new update. Most likely they are going to strive to offer sex change, name change, server transfers along with the Kamael update.
They are also "investigating" alternate rules servers.

I am on Erica and the most people say Erica has the lowest population but I still see many that are C-graders and B-graders not just all A/S graders. There are still many 20s/30s too since I got my old account back with Call to Arms in August and I even partied even though I was just level 20. I say the population is still pretty decent, you just have to get into an alliance and you should be able to get parties easily especially if you are higher level.
im not sure how long ago it was when i quit, but when i did play i could spend up to sevral hours finding or setting up a party considering the large ammount off the population that uses bot's, and ncsoft only interfirance with it is to pretend to care about farmer's and player's useing bot program's... my guess is only more people uses bot programs now, not to mention the server transfear's has been avaible for korean's for sevral month's now, so i doubt this comminuty will ever get it
