I just got a new computer so I was going to see if you guys could recommend a few of the latest and best that have come out?

If I had a new comp I'd go for Supreme Commander. Maybe you if you wait a while you can buy SupCom and the expansion pack for a nice price.

I really enjoyed Company of Heroes.  It is probably the best RTS out there, but I have not played supreme commander.

medieval 2 total war is pretty awsome. The only way i can play it though is with the Dues Lo Vult mod ... it adds like 7-8 new factions and alot more regions.

Everything recommended in this thread has my stamp of approval...there are a lot of great RTS' out right now...Dawn of War and all of its expansions is my personal favorite, because even playing skirmishes against the computer takes a long time to get old...there's just so much variety.

-Dawn of War 40k

-Black and White 2

-C&C Generals

-Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth 1

-Age of Empires 2&3 (1st is classic but not something to get on new comp)

-Heroes of Annihilated Empires

-Company of Heroes

-Supreme Commander

-Medieval: Total War

-Pokemon Snap-shot

I'm partial to Company of Heroes, Dawn of War, and Supreme Commander in that order. They're all great games.



Although, Dawn of War has the best dialogue.

COH is the best RTS i ever played although i'm bored of it now cause i played it too much it is a great game. Last time i played a RTS though was like in 2000 with RA2 and really they're the only RTS games i've ever liked.

Command and Conquer 3(Though you might be unlucky like me and have the "out of synch bug" which pretty much renders the game singleplayer only)

Company of Heroes

Act of War - Great if you're looking for a somewhat realistic modern military RTS with base building

Warcraft 3(if you haven't tried it, that is)

World in Conflict is pretty good too(at least from what I've tried of the beta)

Supreme Commander

Age of Empires 3

Medieval 2 Total War

Warhammer Mark of Chaos

Star Wars - Empire at War

Squad Assault (If you're looking for some hardcore realistic squad based WWII rts)

I really recommend picking up Rise of Nations. It is seriously only $1.99 at like EB Games or something for the Gold Version (Game+expansions). Can't beat that, it is truely my favorite game of all time, which is saying something.

Problem is the PC has too many RTS games most of which are pretty good too. Another one you could try is UFO - Afterlight. That one is a lot of fun too.

I'd say the biggest and most only problem with PC RTS games is simply theres too many good ones. Its a weird negative, but simply there are too many good RTS game on the PC. Each one you want to play for very extended amounts of time, and theres not enough time.

Depends what you wan though cause theres sooo many types of strategy games. 



- God games       - Black and White

- Tycoon games  - Rollercoaster Tycoon

- Sim games - The Sims

- Real Time strategy - Company of Heroes

- turn based Strategy  - civilization 4



Then where do you put the commandos series?

Ontop of that you have sooo many actualy types of RTS...



C&C3   -  Simple first person to rush wins fast action gameplay.



SupCom - Base management and controlling large armies at once with 3 different fronts ( sea,land and air) upto against 8 players....



COH  - More tactical action where you fight over points similar to BF2.





All totally different, so it's hard to decide what you like.
