WoW was my best MMO, After a year I played several more games on-line with each having major dislikes in someway. Now after having been sucked in to MMO's I just could not find any game to replace my WoW days.

I had a basic understanding that D&D was a flop from the start, but about 4 months ago I went to the main D&D page and found that you get a 10 free unrestricted trial so what the hell give it a try. Went to another forum and asked for a populated server and found Argonnessen to be good. Created a Barbarian and did a few solo Dungeons and found that fighting was a little hard,without a user guide I found out why anyway. You dont have to click on the target you just have to run up and kill them with your right mouse,this is GREAT real time combat, and what's more fun is that you may have to fight 10 creatures at once. you have to keep weapon sets ready in your action bar because depending on what your fighting you may have to switch from two clubs to a sward and shield.

Now this is all nice but  how about population, Do I have to play all by my self ? No did a search and found lots of players at all levels. There are only 14 levels to this game but you level slow and you have to see your trainer several times a level to get new abilities. At level 3 I found that I was getting invited to groups. My first group I found everyone using voice chat.........I'm like what !.....built in chat, let me see if I could find my old mic.....yep, let me plug it in and see if it still works....yep works great ......so now were talking. Voice chat works for everyone.

To be able to leave the Harber starting zone you have to complete Water Works dungeon its hard it takes about two hours your party may loose the first time but its fun, All the vets help the new players in the starting area and all are nice, I think the voice chat helps a lot no arguing ever !.

When you can leave the Harbor you can go to the Market place from here you can go any place in the city of Stormreach, and let me tell you the city is big, It looks like the city of Stormwind in WoW but only 10 times bigger along with a lot of zoned outside areas.

So guess what....I got the Box game at EBgames for only $15 with first month free. having no problems finding groups with my Barbarian in the trial I would like to try a healer so i picked a Cleric. Every class is needed casters, tanks even rogues for disarming traps. BUT being a Cleric I found that my game is not even loaded yet and I'm getting invites, at 5 am est  its easy to find groups and at 10 pm I feel bad that I have to turn groups down.

No crafting but never liked it anyway and not much solo but after playing Lotro I had open world quest burn out, and the change was nice. I have a crap computer with 512meg of ram and it plays well,they just added a new zone called Gianthold and it's kind of like being on the moon with lava this area was more graphics and caused some lag but remember I have crap.

I just stoped playing because I needed a break but I give this game a 9 out of 10 and hope Age of Conan is a 10 out of 10 and just got a good computer yesterday.     So this is my story

Was the DDO you bought at EBGames the dvd version? Reason I ask is if you got the DVD it has the high-res textures on it. I'm not certain if the CD version does. Someone correct me please if I am wrong.

Anyways you can repair your install with the CD and it will install the high-res textures. After that you may have a big patch to download but it will be well worth it. Don't install the high-res textures on your 512 machine it will probably be to much for it.

Glad you like the game. Get into a good guild that fits your playstyle and you'll have a lot more fun.
