2Moons.....What a joke.

infrared1infrared1 Member UncommonPosts: 440

I have been waiting awhile now for 2 moons to go into beta. What had me interested was the supposed mature subject matter.

2Moons is a duplicate of Acclaim's other flop game Archlord. I have Archlord, and i play it from time to time for a change. But the game is horrible. Terrible UI, graphics are stale, animations look arcade-ish, combat has no depth, controls are clunky at best and have a delayed response. No real lore or story, its weak. Thats why Archlord died. Well its not dead yet but it is BARELY holding on with the community.

Now i hate to say this but both games look and play identical to one another. Only difference i can see is that some of the NPC's will say F**k when they talk to you in broken english. Oh and the fact that they re-skinned the old archlord models with new skin textures and changed up the landscape a bit.

Seriously people.... I could put 2 computers side by side, one playing Archlord and the other playing 2Moons, and i would not be able to tell you which is which without really looking.

2Moons is a re-rapped Christmas present, only problem is you already re-gifted it to someone else, now it found its way back to you.

Is there anyone out there that played Archlord and 2Moons and can confirm this?? Or am i just seeing things??

Thing is though, i like archlord much better....rofl!!

(all my opinion, you aren't me so do what you like..)

meh - what did you expect?

thankfully the servers were down when i had finished DLing and installing the 2moon CB client way back ... i knew i didnt want to play it and would find it tedious, and the 'adult' rating would guarantee an immature crowd getting off on being able to say 'FUCK' unfiltered... so i uninstalled and congratulated myself that i wasnt going to waste any of my life on it.

i could never face another asian grinder... and i highly recommend this stance to anyone with a tedium threshold

Well you have no credibility anyways, you satated that Archlord is acclaims game, WRONG Archlord is Codemasters, go take a look at the site or even the game box.

Second, they are totally different games, 2Moons is doing very well, Archlord has never done well and they both use different graphics engines as far as i know, so therefore it is not a simple re-skin and really if you cna put them both on screens next to each other and not be able to tell which is which then you must be stupid (as your post proved anyway). Oh and iv played both games and they play quite differently actually.

Next time, atleast post when you know even slightly what your talking about, it does help people take you seriously.

You are just seeing things. Hehe. Archlord may initially fool you with its atmosphere, graphics and "phat lewt" - the whole theme, if you will. 2Moons, on the other hand, doesn't really have a theme and aesthetically it's just a mess. That said, both games share a high flop-factor which is quite sad as I was hoping for Archlord to succeed...

    2 Moons is horrible, though

  • I can't say I've played it enough to really judge it but I can't get past the horrible controls. I keep having to try in vain to adjust the camera to be able to see mobs to fight. And then every time I die it goes back to being all zoomed out and looks terrible.  I am not sure if It's a bug or not but it kept swapping out my bow on the hunter so that I had no weapon equipped at random.  I have tried to play the game about 5 times each session I could not stand it for more then 15 minutes at a time.

  • Some of you may think 2moons is horrible, but me an alot of other peole like it. In a recent article on the 2moons official forums, they stated that 100,000 people registered the first day and the number keeps growing. They said that it will reach one million very soon, so obviously a good bit of people enjoy the game....this game does not baby step you through the game. Please do not say it is a bad game unless you atleast reach level 34....because that is were it starts to get pretty good. You  start to party in big instanced dungeons and so forth, but before then its a lot more difficult to keep coming back to play.

"100,000 registered.." , That could mean that 100,000 registered to play the game (Created an account to try the game). It  doesn't mean that 100,000 are playing it. I registered an account and ended up disliking the game. Quit it.

    dude..

they don't run on the same engine.

Heck, they aren't even made by the same company.

Hell, they are not even published by the same company.

I can confirm you're just seeing things.

I tried it. Quit the next day. Infinite grind, item leveling, defense and strike cubes... I think I have seen it somewhere else.

But I have to admit, I though the overall quality of the game has improved.

  • infrared1infrared1 Member UncommonPosts: 440

First let me apologize for the mistake on the codemasters game Archlord. Played so much crap lately forgot who made what POS.

Different game engine = yes (but they do look very simular)

Different Company = yes (some devs must have jumped ship to Acclaim)

I may have gotten a little derailed for the fact that another game with a chance to step it up a notch, failed for me. VERY DISAPPOINTED! I didnt see too much on the forums about it. I didnt expect much but i did expect something interesting enough to hold me till AoC or WAR or something.

Garrik, i understand you are the king of the game world and the your intellect is far superior to everyone here. Now i have Archlord loaded on my system, though i rarely play it. I see many similarities in both the games. Radar screen looks and displays EXACTLY THE SAME, But 2Moons doesnt allow it to expand like archlord does. The icons in your tool bar VERY similar to archlord. Same delay when one is pushed. Inventory screen is the same just different background and slots moved around a bit. Similar mobs outside the castles and how they........ forget it. I can sit here all day and point out similarities, but you won't listen. Youre smarter than little ol' me. Oh and make complete sentences in your posts next time, it makes you sound stupid when you don't.

    Stupid = no

    Misinformed = yes

Sorry again guys for the quick assumption that Acclaim made Archlord. I DO see a ton of similarities between the 2. Thats just my opinion though, Garrik.

im disappointed when i played the game....

It's like MU just a lil different

  • fmaalexfmaalex Member UncommonPosts: 87

actually the game feels more like diablo2 without the story and instance >_>

open pvp + sub-par graphics + diverse skill tree + gender based class + pvp-oriented skills

its a pretty good pvp game, but its not for everyone, especially those that expect everything in MMO MUST be fed to them on a silver platter. In this game u earn ur stuff, if u cant take it go back to wow

Let me just get this straight. You downloaded and Installed a game you KNEW you didn't want to play and would find tedious?!

Do you also buy cars that you know are lemons and think will suck, or perhaps buy a house to live in you knew was falling apart and which you really hated?

You know your post really makes you look.. um never mind your just not worth it.

Way to use flawed logic boy.  How exactly does BUYING a car and downloading something for free match up ?

Asian grinders will always have a place in the market today, they fill a void and cater to the "I can't fork over $15 a month" crowd. If you can pay the fee then you deserve a better game and avoid the grinders. If you can't pay then expect games that are in the lesser A or B rated game category. Grinders are designed for "long term" enjoyment, you will spend many many (hundreds) of man hours grinding up your toon so you will most likely not give up your char easily, it's also designed to be simple to play and to retain customers using FREE2Play via in-game advertising/item shop model. As long as there are people grinding away then advertising model works. Unfortunately these games simply does not measure up to the standards of AAA rated games. There's really no point in trashing FREE2Play games, it's like going to the homeless soup kitchen then demanding a 5 star restaurant service.

thats ur opinion, L2 is a korean grinder, yet many peeps paid and continue to play it. Many peeps enjoy grinding and "earning" your items and level, mmos today (ever since WoW actually) has been dumbed down to the western society, leveling for dummies so to speak. The majority of MMO gamers now-a-days came from the MMO rush created by WoW, who plays WoW as their first, or second MMO and is accustom to the easy leveling, most of the old skool MMO gamers do not agree to this kind of dumbed down MMO and thats y grinders continue to exist to cater to the those peeps. I think its unfair to state grinders as homeless soup kitchen and western games as "5 star restaurant service". Cuz if u ask me, the toon-like graphics and gameplay of wow makes me feel like its more like McDonalds than a 5 star resturant.

Leveling in korean grinders rarely ever include any moment of skill. it just takes alot of time. Why spend a lot of time doing boring grind when you cant spend less time with boring grind?

Becuz people have time to waste? I used to play L2(quited over 2 years ago) and i have to say altho the grind is boring, korean grinders tends to have a good clan/guild system that makes it easier to communicate and thus create a closer group of people u play with, which means the community is wat keeps the gamers together. I remember when we grind up ToI 11th we had a blast killing the same mobs becuz we were horsing around on vent while grinding, this kind of interaction between gamers are rarely seen nowadays in the "new age MMO".

I don't play MMOs as much as i played back then, i have a job and RL now so time restricts me from playing 16hr a day, but from time time i play the new MMOs just to see if anything changed, honestly  to say korean grinders are all the same with a little gimmick is the same as saying western MMOs are all the same with a little gimmick. Nothing is orginal nowadays becuz they dont have to be, they can make money with 2 things, the cookie-cutter success forumla of L2 or WoW, then add in a nice name and package and dump it to us gamers. To rate MMOs today its not about the game mechanics, its about who has the best "gimmick".

    Asian MMO's = Garbage....nuff said.

  • That is a really stupid comment. Just because a game is from asia does not mean it will be garbage. Look at "Perfect World" for example...that game is definilty not garbage, but has come from asia. 2moons is the same..it is not garbage, though it was made from a model of a game from asia.

You've posted about the 100,000 people registered, and that could be a valid statistic.  The problem is if 50000 people register two times that number is already pretty misleading.  Then you have to count the botters who probably register 5-10 accounts each, that number really gets thrown off.  100,000 signups doesn't mean alot when it comes to if a game is any good or not.  What matters is how many actually buy the game, not just sign up to look it over.
  • randomtrandomt Member UncommonPosts: 1,220

If a game's not fun out of the box, then the game has issues.  Having to wait to grind up to level x before getting to any fun is pretty much contrary to why one plays a game in the first place, yes?

The game is in beta testing, which means that it's free, so anyone with the slightest bit of interest will give it a try.  This has absolutely nothing to do with how good a game is.  Even if there are a million accounts created, the game could suck just as easily as it could be great.  I have not tried it, and know very little about it so I won't pass judgement, but the number of beta accounts and the quality of a game are very loosely related.

call me crazy, but i just don't find having excessive grind in a game less "dumb" than western games. In nearly all of these f2p asian mmo's grinding is partially engaging at best, and subconciously done at the worst. Easy leveling doesn't mean the game is for dumb people, it just means the game is for people who don't want hand blisters I think that the real "dumbed down" games are the ones where the site says "character can complete quest and monster kill for experience extra and game advancement" If a game really wants to be engaging, it should have a real storyline, not the translated pieces of crap were fed from most asian mmo's and more than just a kill kill kill w/ no motive type of gameplay. Id feel more proud of myself and more intelligent if i was able to solve a mystery in game as opposed to saying "my hammer has the blood of 1000 orcs on it now" and the problem with 2moons is that all it is is grind, and yes i did get past lvl 34, there is no difference between this game and other ported asian games. In the quests i don't even remember hearing anything about 2 moons in the game
