SOE Online Will be announcing a new MMO 08-3-2007. http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/players/
"For the first time ever at Fan Faire, we will be unveiling a never-before-seen brand new game! SOE's own John Smedley will be personally announcing this exciting new game and attending fans will have the first opportunity to see and even play it live. This exciting event will happen at the Community Address at 5:30 p.m. on August 3rd.
For those unable to attend Fan Faire in person, a live video stream of the announcement will go out through Station.com to accompany the introduction. Stay tuned for this and more exciting news about the upcoming Fan Faire! "

Sony Online Entertainment announces that Jon Smedley will open this week's SOE Fan Faire in Las Vegas with a first-ever "Community Address" on Friday at 8:30 p.m. EDT. Among the topics will be the unveiling of a new SOE game that attendees will be able to check out first-hand, which will launch by the end of August:
To kickoff the 2007 SOE Fan Faire, SOE President John (“Smed”) Smedley will provide opening remarks to the more than 1000 video game fans coming to the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for this year’s Fan Faire video game convention. This first-ever “Community Address” combines a live presentation with a streaming video broadcast online, where Smed will give both Fan Faire attendees and other gamers the kind of look at SOE products usually reserved for industry events such as E3. Both audiences will see the latest from upcoming titles like Pirates of the Burning Sea™ and Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising™. Fan Faire guests and online viewers will also get their first looks at Secrets of Faydwer™, the next expansion for EverQuest®, and Rise of Kunark™, the upcoming expansion for EverQuest® II.
In another first for Fan Faire, Smed will also unveil an all-new, SOE online game, which is set to formally launch in late August. Fan Faire guests will have the first chance to demo this new title throughout Fan Faire weekend, August 3-5. The SOE Fan Faire is a unique social event in which players of SOE’s most popular titles congregate to meet their online, game-playing peers. This year’s event boasts a plethora of game-themed live events including tournaments, contests, live quests, a variety of panel discussions and tons of great gaming related contests.
This brings some questions to mind.
I wonder what this new game is? My guess is SOE is planning this the same time as Blizcon for what reason? Is it DC Comics online? Unreal Engine 3? SWG2? What could this be? Care to speculate anyone?

I hear SOE is revealing their bleeding edge socio-political MMOs with Kramer vs Kramer Online!
Negitve side of me says: Watch it be some puzzle game you can play on your cell phone and pc. Nothing big like were hoping.
Positive side of me says: Its a Huge project thats going to change everything as we know it. This game is so huge that it has planets that are midevil and planets that are sci fi, something like the Heavy Metal Universe.
A Heavy Metal MMO would be very cool.

I really try not to talk about SOE at all but why would anyone actually anticipate anything from them?
Haven't they proved time and again they can't make or have anything to do with MMOs? Everything they touch is a disaster, especially at launch....it took them over 2 years to straighten out EQ2 and SWG is still a mess........Vanguard........don't even go there.

Is this OP supposed to imply that the new game is still in development and they're just letting the world know they're making it? Or that they're RELEASING a new game that's been in private development successfully with no leaks for the past few years (unlikely)?

I think it will be a little nothing game... some silly little 2d game or whatever... nothing earth shattering. No info leaks about it and release in under a month? It cant be anything worthwhile.
Just to clarify for those who don't know.. if you follow the link and read more info it says this "secret" game is set to Launch by the end of August.... so this isnt a new title they are starting to develop, its a game they've already made and not told us about previously.

My money is that it is SOE's Free to Play "alternative business model" MMO. They never released much info on it other than they expected to launch in 2007. Time will tell, I'll be watching the webcast as I got the email too
