The City of Heroes official site has been updated with a developer diary written by CoH Lead Designer, Matt "Positron" Miller. But beware; the dev diary contains spoilers from earlier high end content and for the next expansion.
We're pleased to bring you the latest City of Heroes developer diary by lead designer, Matt "Positron" Miller. Matt discusses the inspirations for Issue 10: Invasion, and some of the processes behind the story.
From the diary:
"With the decision made to use the Rikti for Issue 10, and bring Vanguard into the limelight, we knew it was the perfect opportunity to bring Hero 1 back from the Rikti homeworld, albeit a little changed."
NOTE: The diary contains spoilers for both older City of Heroes high-end content and for the new issue.

Sweetness. I like it.
This Task Force is a great source of influence.
Basically now the players on my server usually do:
- For Recipies: CAP SF for Villains/Quick Katie for the Heroes, CAP is run in multiple instance, so each member solo it and everyone come back for the final reward, while Quick Katie is sooo fast that the Heroes just run it at once.
- For HO: The RSF/STF...or exceptionnally, the Hamidon.
- For Influences/Infamy: This new TF/SF in co-op mode, notes that most groups consist of 6+ members of the same factions, so the mix is usually small...
For salvages, it is usually better to run a solo instanced mission, such as in Warbug. They balance the infamy/influence and the XP in order to promote grouping, they didn't balance the salvages atm, so soloers get the heavy amount of drops for now.
I have no idea why we do raid the Spaceship, but I like it. Got tons of Vanguard Merits while on the Spaceship raid! Not that I really care for these, but sure nice to get some.
It is possible to FAIL 1 mission in the Rikti TF in order to complete it faster, but since the goal of this TF is to make raw influence/infamy, I see no reason to willingly fail it, yet it is not like it would be the end of the world if it happen. So no big deal if the peoples doesn't protect the various hostages.
Finally, I did get the 4 horsemen and they are extremely lethal for most of my toons...the endurance drain they have is quite nasty and you really need your group to be tight and carefull.
PS: The other SF/TF are runs for the fun of it, or to get a badge you miss. But they are harder to get started, and far less are runned.
