I've been looking for a new MMO to play and Lineage II is one of the ones I'm considering....I've looked over a few resource sites but until I actually play it I have no idea how the game 'feels.'
If you had to pick one game to compare LA2 to, which would it be?
Comments
The only two games I can think that it compares to are two games that came after it: Rappelz and Archlord.
However, L2 is more "A grade" title than those games.
The Art design is "closer" to Guild Wars in some respects (as opposed to being closer to EQ II or WoW).
It is an open pvp game and a heavy grind game with a hard economy. The quests (in my opinion) are horrible. The idea of the game is to grind up to a decent lvl so that you an compete in pvp. People fight for castles, hunting areas, old grudges, etc.
Does that help?

Granted all the games that are "like" L2 are NOT L2, and to me they usually seem cheap, mainly because they are free. Lets just say, compaired to LC the world is more seamless, there is more customizability. I think L2 graphics, the artwork mainly, is the best. Some try to duplicate it, but the character designs and the world itself is just amazing! Animations are pretty cool too.
If you want to give L2 a try, I think I have a 14-day trail key I could give you. PM me on these boards if interested. You will have to purchase the box set, or an actual key...either way. But at least it is 14-days that you can check it out. Although I don't think you will really have much fun until you play for a month or so since lower level areas are slightly sparse, but you can fly through them in a month.
But think about this, they both have a/an:
- open PVP model
- end game centered on clan warfare and politics
- hella long grind
- widespread RMT and botting epidemic
- administrative team that is arguably corrupt
