FPS: Battlefield series
RTS: Starcraft
RPG: Diablo 2
MMO: Lineage series
No other games even comes close to competing with any of these games in its genra. Everything else is half assed at best. I really wonder what has happened to the game development industry when the best games _today_ are the games made a decade ago. If you have those 4 games, you have everything there is on offer.

But yes, there is a glut of WW2 games on the market. It's like turning on the history channel every time I walk into a store, every game is about WW2.
Aside from Starcraft, I'd go with wrong on all accounts.
Elder Scrolls series wins for RPGs, hands down(and I didn't even like it that much)
Battlefield series is meh. Plenty of better FPS games out there. Until Team Fortress 2 comes out, anyway.
MMOs? Well, besides the obvious answer that they all suck, I'll go with pre-CU SWG. Barring that, the character creation screen from CoX, which by itself is more fun than most MMOs.
