Cant Rate Games

FinbarFinbar Member UncommonPosts: 187

Ok so first look to the left and see when I joined this community. I have been lurking here for YEARS. Then I drop by to vote on a new game I have been playing (I spend more time playing and less time ranting on these forums these days), and well guess what... I am not ranked high enough to vote....

Why does post count matter at all? Anyone can spew endless pontifications forth in the hopes of starting a flame war only to 'up' their post count.

Some of us have been here for years and helped make this site what it is today, simply by our regular attendance of the site and by linking and refering others to this site.

I think mmorpg.com should seriously reconsider their membership priorities. If you ask me when you joined should trump (in a huge way) post counts.

I will continue to lurk, and read mmorpg.com but I certainly do feel somewhat slighted.

And no... I am not going to go post a bunch of meanless dribble just to up my status so that I can vote.

What the heck? I have a much smaller post count than you, and a much more recent join date. Something is off.

You don't have to post to raise your ranking enough to vote.  I rarely post.  All you need to do is log in everyday.  That will raise your ranking enough to post reviews and vote on the games.

Its quite simple the red bit is why. the number of stars in your banner and whether you can post is based on the number and quality of your posts within 30 days. And looking at your posting dates you post very infrequently.

Also it takes into account the number of times you log on.

Logging in once or twice a week should be more than adequate to raise your rank to 5/100, which is what is necessary to be eligible to rank games here. I easily maintain ~50/100 just by logging in once a day and posting about once every other week at most...

We only require a rank of 5/100 to post reviews and hype.  40/100 can be obtained just my your login activity...without posting a thing   Our ranks are only based on the past 30 days...anything past that is ingored.  You can get all kinds of information on how our ranks are computed in the FAQ section.  Basically,  just login a few days this week and you will be able to vote.

Why do we do this?  Well, it *really* slows down the people abusing the rating system since most don't have the patience to create hundreds of accounts and get their rank up to 5+

NOTE: Seniority of the account cannot be the factor we use otherwise someone would just create hundreds of accounts and come back next year to use them to abuse the scoring.
