hey im buying an 8800GTS and it says it needs 26A at least on the +12V rail

can someone recommend a good PSU for such a card?

Are two 18A 12V rails good enough for 8800gts (needs "26Amps")? on hardforum, if that thread is not enough that forum has a ton of threads & people that can answer hardware questions.

Those are all of the newegg.com power supplies 500W +12V@26A or higher.



What was interesting, was the lack of "Popular" brands.  How many Antec, Enermax, Coolermaster, Thermaltake, OCZ, Mushkin, or Corsair power supplies do you see on the above list?  Little to none!  It seems like the older "popular" brands just keep turning out the same product they did 5 years ago while all these new companies are actually making the newer better products.



Well, the only power supply on the list under $100 with modular cables is the $99.99 Spire.  If that is important to you get that one.  That $19.99 Powertek looks like a steal at that price. (BUT you are limmited to 4 molex connectors and would need to get a molex to sata connectors, and the molex to PCIe that the video card comes with uses 2 molex cables)  The cheapest power supply on the list that comes with SATA connectors is the Dynapower for $21.99. ( you do not need PCIe connectors out of your power supply because the video card comes with a 2 molex to 1 PCIe connector)  Other than that, it is just a comparison between price, looks, brand name, and nice features such as modular cable SATA and PCIe power cables.



I would get the Dynapower.  But, you take a look and have fun picking one!
