And to give you an idea...can you imagine a chaos player who has achieved the title "chaos lord" and the ability to temporarily transform into this in game:
Bloodthirster
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
Whomever painted that character did a wonderful job.
It's off of the website...I've never painted anything that big, the largest 40k model I have painted has been a predator, I did a pretty good job on it, but I lack the specialized tools like air brushes, and I'm impatient as all hell, so it's difficult for me to get a really spectacular paint job on a model.

Bah! Space Marines? Tau? Eldar? Heretics and Xenos! Into the breach once more you dogs! -Commissar from DOW Forward warriors of the Guard, and die like the heros you are! -Sargeant Kint Give me a long-las, some frags and a tank and Ill show you what a human in the 40K can do. I hope they steal from SWG and let us buy and own tanks and planes. Can you say BANEBLADE?! I know I can!
I approve of this. Just me, a leman russ and 250,000 grunts. lets how you do you power armoured pussies
Actually, no it's not. It's from the publishers of Dawn Of War. The company that made Dawn of War is called Relic. The company making this game is called Vigil.
This will be Vigil's first video game to date.
Hmmm I was under the impression that Vigil was just a part of Relic.. I guess I was wrong... But what Confuses me most is that Relic has been recruiting MMO designers, programmers and the like of late...
When I get home I'll post the wanted ad... Although I'm sure you can find it at Relic's homepage...

I read that the head Developer of this game came from NCsoft, and some of his codevelopers came from other games in the MMO genre. So Vigil dont have n e Mmo's under there name, but these guys have done them..
I got this info from the Gamespot interview ...
Im thinkin with all the cash THQ has that they will make this game a winner. but i know i'll buy it for the love of the tabletop, DoW, adn the books...
So who else thinks that this game needs to be a first/third person shooter rather than an RPG ? I would hate to see the game devolve into the standard MMORPG mechanics of boring combat and stat based gameplay =(

Agreed, it should definetly favour FPS over RPG, kinda like planetside only good.

Agreed, it should definetly favour FPS over RPG, kinda like planetside only good. When planetside first came out, it was really really good...but with every patch more stuff got messed up, the more the cry babies playing the Vanu Sovereignty complained, the more the Jackhammer got nerfed, and the more the game got lame.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
Well if you read the article.. THQ makes sure to reference this game as A MMOG... not MMORPG...
so that just may be the case... This may happen to turn into a planetside type thing... Which would be great.... but at the same time scares me alittle...

As long as they use Planetside as a learning experience...and as long as they stay true to the 40k universe...they shouldn't be afraid to let the player command powerfull units like the Bloodthirster and the other hero type units...the trick will be to limit their availability while still making them fun to try and achieve, and even cooler to play as. I think that the potential to create a game where the players really are in control is there, but it's all about whether or not the devs puss out and decide to make it just like every other MMO currently on the market.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
Yeah that's the kind of thing that I was talking about on the first few pages...in order to accomodate the players who won't be able to spend enough time to reach things like hero classes, there would have to be extensive guild/squad support. Voice chat would be a must, as would leadership roles that could be earned in various ways, and leadership roles would give constantt benefits to squad members as well as a number of abilities that the leader could activate for the benefit of the squad.

Since the IG's greatest assets are hordes of firepower, numbers, and faith in the Emperor, you will encompass all as an IG officer.
The IG officer gets 'pets' in the form of a squad. A squad of nine more! They suck individually, and die alot, but there are always more where that came from. You can call in reserves or use a medic squad member to deal with casualties. The IG officer's powers focus on improving their squad, with a little for personal abilities (just like the game). You can upgrade your squad to have larger weapons, and eventually get special upgrades to the squad like a priest or a squad of Stormtroopers. At some point you get to branch off into seperate classes.
Continue as officer: You continue acheiving ranks in the traditional military. Your raw leadership ability improves the morale of your soldiers, making them better fighters. You get links to off map resources like spy satallites and plane and orbital strikes, or artillery. Sort of a 'mage' in that he can blast things really well with his abilities or well-equipped squad members.
Commissar: You join the glorious ranks of the Commissariat! Your command powers focus more on fear than the normal officer, and as a result your troops are less defensive and more offensively inclined. You can get an aura of terror that constantly scares your troops into fighting more viciously. You will get the power to summarily execute a squad member (because if you can't execute things what point is being a commissar), which will scare all the other troops to fighting harder for a period of time. High damage ranged type class (through the squad).
Techpriest: You join the priesthood of Mars. That means cybernetics...lots of them. Your squad also gets cybernetics. You also get access to odd mechanical things like..oh, vehicles. You can have a chimera airdropped to your position to move you and your squad around faster (only overland maps). You get servitors who are very tough. Overall, your squad is all very tough, much tougher than the other squads.
Ecclesiasty: You are a priest. Congratulations, you get an obscenely large chainsword and the temper to use it. This class is all about close combat. Your squad becomes fanatics, redemptionist cultists and the like. They get all kinds of close combat goodness, ignoring better ranged abilities (they get pistols, sometimes). You can also get special squad members like arco-flagellants, because arco-flagellants are awesome and crazy. You'll have inspirational powers to spur continued close combat violence.
I actually really like that idea, individual characters could have Imperial Guardsman squads in order to really show that the Imperial Guard is all about numbers and armor...the only thing I would suggest is to make sure that you aren't leveling your squad from 1-50 or anything like that, the guardsman should never be so pathetically weak so as to be worthless against other players..again though, this is based on my idea that the game should not be reliant on levels, but rather ranks that grant certain abilities which would be useful, but not so overpowering that nobody a few ranks lower would stand a chance.

1) sounds like a great idea to have finally 40k on the pc besides RTS based or a mod.
2) this idea will be extreamly hard to complete and balance, race/units are geared for large battles not 1 vs 1 unless its an HQ unit.
3) i wont count my las-guns until im issued a bolter. that being said i worry it will be a flop. like most FPS you have noob cannons so i worry that there will be a gaurdsmen running round with a lascannon strapped to his back. as we all know its impossible for gaurdsmen to do that.
4) hopefully they will create a godly game well balanced and ideal for all 40k players ^_^
naturally those who server the god emperor are well rewarded with mmofps games ^_^ hahah, im 80% sure this will be a FPS the guns and units are all geared for shooting not really questing so any RPG will be based on small world wide missions but it will be a fps none the less. kind of like huxely or warrock i bet.
thou i will wait for it to be released more before i jump for job. for all i know this could be a trap set by foul xenos or the ever presant heretics and their blaspamis gods!1
that is no concept art, that is marneus calgar, current chapter master of the ultramarine space marine chapter. the picture was taken from the spacemarine codex, personally i think the ultramarines are pansies hahaha but owell im more for rogal dorn of the imperial fists chapter or sanguinius of the blood angel chapter ^_^

I've always been an artist (of quality I have no clue) and even I find minitures to be horror.
I've used airbrushes on them and they always turn out too shaded or too much splatter.

Orks FTW!
(Not that you couldn't have guessed my racial preference, it's not that hard.)
First ill say that is not concept art its been around for years.
Secondly id like to say Nids rule.
