I highly doubt this could ever be F2P, the quality of the game speaks for itself. I see a lot of people saying "but Guild Wars is free and doing very well" GW isn't even a mmorpg and not to mention it's totally instanced which in return reduces the cost to maintain the servers. The developers themselves labeled it CORPG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game).

My thoughts exactly.
I have no proof that Aion will be P2P but I think it is blatantly obvious.

You might wanna check out the game features and the fact that the game is powered by the CryEngine. That should give you a clue as to why this won't be a F2P game.
Indeed, however with the exception of Guild Wars and Granado most F2P are low budget, something with the Crytek Engine is far from low budget. Hence why I said I "doubt" it'll be F2P. the Crytek Engine isn't even just about the graphics, also the interactions with the world environment, splashes in the water, branches swaying and being pushed away from your character, motion blur, there is an incredible amount of detail there.

My major problem with the things i've seen about this game is that it looks like it has the "typical" asian UI. I'm hoping to god this isnt a grind-fest AND that the flying isnt flight-path setup outside of certian areas. Like i'm hoping that the flying is free where ever you want to go and able to be activated at anytime. This is a concern of mine because I saw a gameplay vid where the charecter took off at one NPC and landed at another.
"And after blizzard takes over the world, they are gonna gather a bunch of lemmings, sit on their fat asses near a cliff, and watch the little fuzzy bastards suicide dive into the ground below. . . . . all just for their own entertainment."

Actually it has a UI almost exactly like L2 from what I have seen. So yeah your right on that part.
The developers have stated that the game has free flight and will not be a grind.
Make of that what you will.

Well... I trust NCSoft... they've never done me wrong before, it just worries me from some of the initail videos i've seen tis all... Granted they're game-play videos from E3 and since it was probably limited content they very well may have had flight-paths for ease of programing a demo...
but i still worry cause i have such high hopes for this game... kinda like i did for RF Online... wow did those hopes get slammed... they didnt even buy me dinner first...

This game could revolutonize RvR warfare. I'm really hoping it does that. So far there are quite a few groundbreaking games planned for this year.
Aion, WAR, STO, PotBS, just to name a few, all bringing something unique and innovative to the scene.
"And after blizzard takes over the world, they are gonna gather a bunch of lemmings, sit on their fat asses near a cliff, and watch the little fuzzy bastards suicide dive into the ground below. . . . . all just for their own entertainment."

The UI shown in the videos and possibly screenshots are of the demos. And you're right, the UI in the demos were pretty much taken from L2 for the demo's sake. So we wont know exactly what the UI will be like. I've heard that studio 5 (Ncsoft's Aion dev. team) are taking the good things from both western and asian mmorpgs and putting them together, so heads up!

I actually hope they keep the L2 style UI.
It's simple and easy to move around, not to mention looks great and doesn't hog your screen.

i REALLY hope it is p2p, i cannot stand most of the f2p crowd, since most of them are bastard lil kids
either that or we r just smart enough not to waste money monthly on a fuking game... unless u r a tester or designer these games cant bring u ne money bak... on the other hands sports for example have the possibility of maying u bak 10 fold or more depending on how far u go hell even poker has the possibility if u play enough to get ur money but mmo's have no such option however i am all for donation systems and item malls so that even the ppl that don't have a large enough income to support the extra bills can play and the company will still get money for updates and other services...
the reason i dont like item mall is all the bitches that get so overpowered its hard as hell to kill them.. and since this will revolve around pvp more than likely that wont be fun. and also if they go off donations.. or item mall... they wont make enough to pay the devs, gms, and all the other people that NCSOFT has employed.. remember they are a big company not some small no namer that does the donation system or needs a damn item mall.. they actually pay bills... and live off of the game that THEY MADE that is their job

Basically put: Games are entertainment, I do not expect entertainment to be my job as well as that would create an unwelcome obligation to play instead of playing to have a bit of fun. It is the same with sports, I study taekwondo (3rd dan black belt) and wing chun but I never expect it to generate any cash or anything. I do it because it is fun.
Subscription fees are low but they also weed out the players who are not dedicated, ie you only pay for what you think is fun. I am the kind of person who wouldn't mind to pay two or three times the subscription fee if I was guaranteed that the entire community was only made up by people I would enjoy gaming with (a completely impossible utopia and therefore not possible).
Since that can't be done I'm quite content with the Pay-2-Play model. So far it has not let me down and I have absolutely no problem paying for four or five games even though I only play each a couple of hours per week. Diversity and free choice between various favourites above any concerns regarding the negligible subscription fees.

and that is y they have a bunch of other games that are p2p... also if dont forget u still have to buy the game think about the console and non online games they dont get paid monthly for their games and althouhg they dont need to do patches a game is a game .... also item malls dont always have items that are super strog they could simply just have promo items or different style items that the more wealthy players might want to design their char with... also take dattebayo fansubs llc for a perfect example of donations at work they have to pay their staff for the fansubbing they do and they do it almost entirely on donations also they own buildings in other countries just like play nc...
oh and i hate when ppl say p2p will "weed out the ppl that dont care" ... personally when i play a game i pley for fun but i also try to make it feel like its real otherwise their wouldnt be ne point to it... however i dont have a credit or debit card and neither me nor my parents have the money to pay for monthly subscriptions. so dont give me ne of that bullshit ive heard it all a million times and im sik of it just because ur able to make enough money to pay for a game monthly doesnt mean everyone else can and just because someone doesnt want to pay over and for something they already bought doesnt make them a bad player...
Guild Wars 2 is going to be persistent (with instanced zones, but more like a mix, not something like GW 1), and is still going to be free to play. Guild Wars has a team of over 100 persons, and is free. Technically also is very good, and still free.
I just want to point that those aren't reasons to have monthly fees.
I understand people who doesn't want immature players, but think about us, those poor 20+year old students!
